(What's up with Aunts, anyway?)

"toys/clothes balance" : when you got way more toys than sweaters on Christmas. Then, one day, you open your presents, one after the other: sweaters, pants, socks, toy, pants, shirts for school, underpants, toy...and the next Christmas it's even worse...

Duh he's talking about my TOYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs!
Yes what is this "shift", I will never shift I want toys naw I don't really give a hoot and I buy clothes on sale at 75% or more off. After the Christmas holiday the stores markdown and you can get some great deals. The normally stuff, like glove4s, slippers, etc, buy and save till nest year. I remember once a shirt sale and wear an 18/34 and that's normlly hard to find as gone on a sale. this time the store person told me they were changing the color in the blue shirts a bit and these were on sale for $5 and I loaded it.l Another time i bought Levi jeans and others for $4.75. I had gone t Dallas to see the docs and ran off with out my clothes so I went in to buy some slacks and stuff and i asked the store person if they had slacks/jeans on sale and she said '475' and ponted and I said you mean like the '555s" or the "505s", types of Levis and she no i mean like "$4.75". Loaded up and freind said he could sale for $10 at his store as favor for locals.

I got so much goin on that I normally give cash and a Bible. Take care. Oh yea, I don't need anything, except men's sock in a size like 16-18. Yes I know I dont need skis.

Mine still hasn't. It's just that the toys keep getting more expensive and I can't buy them as often!

Edit: Oh, well! Actually, I get about the same ratio of clothes to other presents as I always have. I don' think it's ever changed.....people do seem to buy MORE presents for kids, though. I guess I was probably about 13 when I started noticing I wasn'tgetting as many presents. :P It's your own fault if other people don't know what you want, though. If you are close to them, then they will often just ask!

A negative direction? Isn't that mathematically impossible? Unless you had a certain number of toys taken away, "toys" divided by "clothes" is always positive.
Just kidding, I know what you mean. I was 16, and by that time, I didn't consider it a "negative" shift at all!

EDIT - I include books and CDs under "Toys".

It doesn't shift for good. Cos when we start earning enough we just go and buy ourselves 'grown up' toys, like computers, cars, drills, axes (oops, how did that get in) and home brew kits, lol.
