It actually sounds really good said out loud. Considering the 'unique' 'kre8ative' names parents are rolling out these days, Arcadia is really sweet and feminine. Why would she possibly get teased, in a classroom full of Maikhenkie's and Jayidon's? Those kids will barely be able to spell their own names! Besides sounding and looking beautiful, Arcadia has so many nicknames to choose from, should she want one. Ara, Ari, Cadi/Cady, Dia, etc. If her middle name started with a J, like Arcadia Jane, she could even use AJ.

I know its a place name too, I just have no idea where it is lol. I suck at geography. I really don't think that matters though - there are tons of Londons and Paris's around. And place names can really work as cool first names - Maine, Memphis, Alaska, etc. I say use it!

Good luck!

I love it.

First, it *is* a place name. So are Siena, Brooklyn and Madison and they're about as popular as you can get. I'd say that exotic place names are fair game.

Second, while the name is unusual, it offers the appealing nickname Cady, which makes it far more conventional.

Lastly, while place names risk being associated with disasters or other problems, Arcadia is used in at least five different countries, well over a dozen US states and even on Mars. In some ways, this lessens the impact of the place name, I think. It's not exactly Main Street, but it's used enough that it isn't deadly wedded to any one place.

It's familiar and yet unexpected; feminine without being overly frilly. I'd use it without reservation.

I like it! It makes me think of Joan of Arcadia, but it's still pretty, unusual and part of the place name trend. If she doesn't like it, she could use the nickname Cady/Katie.

Arcadia Jade
Arcadia Maureen
Arcadia Danica
Arcadia Penelope
Arcadia Catherine
Arcadia Margaret
Arcadia Louisa

It's okay but I am not sure how it would suit the baby throughout her life. Maybe try something similar like:
Arrianna, Ariya, Ada, Addison, Ariel...
Or try Arcadia as a middle name
Grace Arcadia
Miranda Arcadia
Chloe Arcadia
Paige Arcadia
Victoria Arcadia
Lily Arcadia

I hope this helps. Good luck :]

I don't know if I would use it myself, but I'm kinda liking it.

I don't know why someone wrote that people would have a hard time pronouncing/spelling it - it's spelled exactly like it's pronounced.... only an illiterate person couldn't figure that one out....

You would need to use it with the right last name though...

it sounds too much like a video arcade. I know you probably want to associate it with Joan of Arcadia but i don't think it would work out as you've planned

I think that it is quite elegant and unique.

Place names are very trendy right now, so though this exact place name is very rare, no one her age would find it odd that she had this name.

Arcadia is lovely. It sounds like a girls' name. I think that you could definately use it! Cady is a cute nickname that comes to mind, or DeeDee.
