First figure the prime factors of each number:
12 = 2 x 2 x 3
14 = 2 x 7
16 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2

Now pick the factors to cover all these numbers (four 2s, one 3, one 7). Multiply them to get the lowest common multiple.

LCM = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 7 = 336

As a double check:
Multiples of 12: 12, 24, 36, 48, ..., 300, 312, 324, 336, ...
Multiples of 14: 14, 28, 42, 56, ..., 284, 298, 312, 336, ...
Multiples of 16: 16, 32, 48, 64, ..., 288, 304, 320, 336, ...

To get the least common multiple of the following numbers, use the prime factorization:
12 = 2, 2, 3
14 = 2, 7
16 = 2, 2, 2, 2
Then, get all the factors. Note: use common factors once.
LCM = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 7 = 336
