Because women for the most part are an extremely important part of our natural life cycle, so hence the need for women to take better care of themselves. Oh and another point women have very complex bodies so there's a real need to understand what's going on with them.

Just my opinion.

Why is women's health not such an important issue?

Women's health shouldn't be considered as more important than men's health, since womenhood is not a disease. Yet, the medical establishment likes to make women believe that they need more "care" because their bodies are supposedly more complex or supposedly more prone to disease. Men have other functions that women don't have, so why would that not be a reason to give as much "care" and attention as to women's issues--probably because we have a more healthier view of men, so the need for healthcare is less important for them, according to society.
So I don't consider women's health to be more important than men's health or general health that nature would demand, it's just a belief(based on fear and threats) from society.

There is a lot about womens hormones and health that is simply not understood. Women have aches and pains monthly and it is just shrugged off by the medical community as 'normal' and 'un-interesting'.

Some reports have suggested that modern medical science is about 30 years behind where it should be with respect to breast cancer, hormones and the female reproductive system.

Are you a woman? Do you want to be healthy? More women die every year of heart disease than men. Very few men get breast cancer, no men get ovarian or uterine cancer. More women in this world are overweight than men.
