I am getting ready to go to college. I am going to go to WVU in Morgantown.(already got accepted) However I dont want to live on campus so i will probably try and get an apartment in or very near to Morgantown. Any advice on websites to find one easily, and what are some tips for finding more affordable ones? Also, depending on where i live, a car may not be necessary all the time because i could possibly walk or take the PRT (experimental Personal Rapid Transit in motown) so i could save on gas which is gonna hit 4 dollars by the time i go more than likely.

You can check-out the local colleges' Student Union and Bursary Offices. They usually have a listing of available appartments in the area at reasonable rates. They can sometimes even help with finding a roommate if you want.

Also, consider taking a bike...with a little luck, you won't have any problems with bad drivers and bkie thieves...although for the second, buy a GOOD lock and use it properly! (And on a properly secured item so they don't just pull the post out of the ground and walk off with the bike.)

Many schools require entering freshman to live on campus, just be sure this doesn't apply to you.
Also many schools have a "Commuter Services" department or something similar. When I moved they gave me a very helpful packet with all the apartments locally and other info on where you are allowed to park and tips for navigating the transit system....
If your school doesn't have this dept then talk to the dept that runs the dorms, they might offer some suggestions.
Good Luck Nathan!!

rent.com is a good start.....are you sure you don't want to live in the dorms for a year? You will meet way more friends in a residence hall than living by yourself.
