whats the formula for an area of a triangle. the formula must be for a triangle thats not right nor isocellies.... its for a trig question so it might include a sinx in the formula.

Area of triangle = 0.5 * a * b * (sin C)

where a and b are any two adjacent sides and angle C is the angle enclosed by sides a and b.

This formula works for all triangles.

The formula for the area of a triangle is one half the length of the base times the height. This works for all triangles. Of course, for a triangle that isn't a right or isoceles, you wll probably have to use trig to find the height. Without knowing which measurements of the triangle are given, I can't help any further.

Hey there!

Depends.

The standard form for area of a triangle is Area=1/2*base*height.

When you said sin(x) in the formula, I assume you meant the area of an SAS triangle i.e. sides a and b, with included angle C.

Here's the area of a triangle.

A=1/2*a*b*sin(C).

Take a look at this. If you substitute 90 for C, we get:

A=1/2*a*b*sin(90) -->
A=1/2*a*b*1 -->
A=1/2*a*b

Hence, the original formula for the area of the triangle!

Hope it helps!

A= 1/2bh

Which in words is half times base times the height
base is horizontal line and the height is the line that goes up and down the center of the triangle

area for right angle trigangle is base x height x 1/2

for isocellies is 2 x ( base x height x 1/2 )

and for the other triangles are the same, simply cut them into another right angle triangle, and then you will be able to calculate the area.

Let ABC is a triangle. Draw AD perpendicular from A to BC.

Now in triangle ADB

AD = h

AB = hypotenuse

Sin(B) = AD/AB = h/AB

h = AB* sin(B)

area of triangle = bh/2 = BC(AB*sin(B)/2 = ac sin(B)/2

similarly you can prove that A = ab Sin(C)/2 or

A = bc Sin(A)/2
