Look at what the employees at the company are wearing and dress a step or two above that. Depending on the job, overdressing can be just as bad as under dressing. I manage a movie theatre. When I do interviews, I like to see the girls wearing a nice blouse and semi dressy pants or a skirt. But I have hired girls who came in wearing jeans and a clean t-shirt. One thing I would suggest is that you avoid cleavage. You want the interview to be about you, and you don't want the interviewer to be distracted by anything else. I'll be the first to admit that cleavage is like a magnet for the eyes and I always get irritated when a girl comes to an interview with a low cut shirt because it's distracting and makes me feel like she's trying to use her sex appeal to get a job. EDIT RedPoison: Are you aware that typing in all caps is the equivalent of shouting.

I would wear at least a ite. If you don't want to wear a tie, I would wear a sport coat. Even though it's mostly field work, it's still a professional interview. If you have been to the place before the interview, notice how your future boss and other employees dress. Good Luck.

I've always been taught to wear a suit for an interview no matter what. But that's just me. To each his own.

I think what you have described above will be perfect, especially since it isn't a full time office job. You want to look smart, but not overdressed (a suit would be a big no no!). Is the shirt a solid or a very small print? You want them to see you, not the shirt. Good luck, hope you get the job you deserve!

I would say that its best to look like the job you want, on the best day...and then I read your details..I work near our state's dept. of environmental conservation, and every morning I see lots of workers who wear exactly what you describe! I would err on the side of showing up in a tie even if they aren't, just to show that you are concious its an interview, and that you aren't yet one of them.
Good luck!

The outfit you have chosen sounds perfect. Casual, but dressy enough to make it look like you prepared for the interview. Just make sure the shirt is a solid color. Good luck!

Sounds good -- just still look nice (although you may not have to ON the job) -- I'm in the same situation you're in (sort of) but I'm a female -- I have a brown interview suit -- ha ha. Never wear it anywhere else. It looks good but the pants keep falling down on me - ha ha.

The rule is it's better to be over dressed, than under-dressed. I would wear a blazer at the least if you refuse to wear a tie. But wearing a tie and a blazer would be best.

Sounds good to me. I agree with the no tie thing... a little too formal for that particular job.
Best of wishes on the interview!

Wear a blue suit, because this is not a joke, blue is a persuasive color. Where something clean cut. Make sure to leave an ever lasting impression
