There are so many novelty ties, you may want to focus on just a few kinds. Since you already have Dennis the Menace, maybe you would like to collect other cartoon characters.

You can use the wider end, sew the sides together to make a good sized quilted bed topper or interesting floor rug. Don't let it get walked on too much though. Once you make the circle of ties, keep the background colour of the tie as the basis of your colour scheme, the centre may not sit flat so cut back until it does, then add a circle of fabric to fit the space. Lay the whole cloth on backing fabric then wadding, in the circle shape, leaving the points of the ties as an interesting edging. Pin the three layers together, sew along the seam lines of the sewn ties, and along the seam line of the circle in the centre, add any quilting pattern in the centre if you like. Turn the project over with the front side down and using needle and thread, handsew the backing edging in place by trimming the wadding back at least half an inch and turn the backing fabric under to neaten the edge. Slip stitch in place.

I saw a show on TV where they took ties and sewed them together alternating the wide and thin ends to make pillow covers. You could also put a rod across a window and hang the ties on them to make a valance. You could also frame some of them in interesting formations in a poster frame.
