I believe that there are people who have proven by their actions that that do not belong on this Earth. There are people who have no concept of the value of a human life and would gladly take one or more for something as simple as a pair of sunglasses or an imagined insult.
I do not feel that it will ever be safe to have these people walking among the rest of us, nor do I see any purpose to maintaining them in cages forever as if they were laboratory animals. They are a blight on humanity that should be removed.

Think of it this way. If I were to kill your parents in cold blood, and got caught, would you want me to experience the pain they went through? Or would you want me to live out my days in a small prison cell eating food living off the government no matter how bad the conditions may be? That's basically what prison is. There are some homeless people who actually purposely get themselves into trouble so that they can have a place to lay their head.
Did you know that a day in prison time is actually 12 hours? and for every 30 days you have good behavior you can get some of your prison term shortened? And that if you do work in the priosn you can actually get money if/when you leave? Wow....That's really harsh punishment for killing your parents isn't it??
But no, it's not that they are lusting for blood. I think some of it has to do with revenge, but it's also our justice system. Ron White the comedian said something hilarious. "In Texas", he says "if you kill someone, we'll kill you back. It's our policy." The death penalty has always been used so that the family has some solace in the fact that the killer can longer hurt anyone again.

While I'm sure some people do support the death penalty out of hatred for the human race, I think you'll find that for most people it's justice. They believe that the person who committed the crime should be "eliminated" from the population so that they are unable to commit the crimes again. This is a valid argument particularly when considering people convicted of murder, because then the punishment fits the crime.
Personally I do not support the death penalty.

There were serial killers like Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway the Green River Killer. Together it is possible they have killed over 100 people. Now those are the kind of people the death penalty serve. It is not revenge. It is justice to those unfortunate victims and the victim's families. Also whether some believe it or not the parents are not to blame. It is the criminals own fault that they are the way they chose to be.

That's an unfair question. The idea behind the death penalty is not violence but justice.
You could ask another question along the same lines, like "Do people who support jail sentences do it because they love making people suffer?"
It's just justice. Some people believe that there are crimes which are so terrible that the people who commit them should be put to death. Others don't believe that. And both sides have fair points.

I dont think they lust for blood. I think they just dont realize the severity of the situation and their hunger for justice blinds their judgement. In a way, I think they might be a little biased.
By the way, I dont think anyone should be condemned to death no matter what they did. I also do feel sometimes that I would want somebody so evil dead but I really dont think it should be so. We are all humans and therefore have the same status in life. We all breathe the same air and none of us should condemn our fellow human to death. It is not up to us.
P.S. I believe in Karma.

The whole idea of putting someone to jail is for "rehabilitation". the inmates "learn" a skill so that they can go back in society. those on death row or receive life imprisonment are considered beyond "rehabilitation".
jail is like an adult version of a time out. therefore punishment is supposed to befit the crime.imprisonment is so, such that society can feel that the wrong has been put right and that the individual has learned their lesson. thus the death penalty being the ultimate pinishment.

I support the death penalty for serial killers.
For me it's a matter of justice-predators like that give no value to the lives of others. Therefore their lives have no value,
and their deaths may give some peace to the families of the
victims.

If you assume that a human life has a finite length, then each of us only has so many hours of life remaining.
The difference between taking even one of those hours and taking all of them is then only a matter of degree. Imprisonment IS a form of death... just a smaller death.
The only way to avoid taking part of someone's life is to punish nobody. The word for this is either anarchy or utopia.

I support the death penalty strictly for revenge. If someone killed my wife I would want that person dead. I wish I was a better person, no luck though.
