The jury is NOT out. Medical Science has discovered what causes homosexuality. It is caused by an excess of testosterone en vitro. That's all there is to it.
Sometimes, nature does this by pure chance. Sometimes it happens to the last of a series of boys... nature's reaction to the testosterone overload in the womb.
It is not genetic. It is not environmental. It is not a disease. And it most definitely is not a choice. No one "chooses" their sexuality, hetero or not.
There is no moral dilemma with homosexuality because it "just happens" as a result of a hormone rich environment before birth.
This information has been widely known in medical circles for two decades now. The only reason it is not widely known outside of medical science is because of the political agenda of the "religious wrong"... those who seek to polarize political debate with meaningless divisional tactics.
"Gayness" is a non-issue. It is advertised as an issue only to distract the populace from real issues such as, the economy, immigration, violation of the constitution, and war.
As long as ignorant reactionary people are misinformed and emotional about this easy-to-inflame subject, the populace will be easy to distract. That is the main reason people even care. Otherwise, nobody gives a tinker's cuss about gayness.

No one really knows for sure.
Honestly I don't see how it matters. It's not harmful or hurtful to anyone in anyway to BE gay.
No one really knows exactly what makes people be left or right handed either. It's simply a widely accepted theory that it's genetic.
So, what not just make being gay be an accepted theory and let it go at that?
I don't see huge protests against southpaws, but I have seen Fred Phelps' family and their disgusting display of hatred towards gays and lesbians simply for being "different."
We know it's not because of "exposure" or being molested because those theories are all too easily debunked.
We know it's not a virus or mental disorder because it cause no ill affects to any bodily function or mental function.
We know it's not a pathology because it causes no harm to the person him/herself or anyone around or near them.
So, all we actually DO have is a bunch of theories and no solid evidence accept anecdotal.
Those of us who ARE GLB & T KNOW we didn't choose to be so. Many of use "knew" we were attracted to the same or both genders a rather early age...or knew we were souls stuck in the wrong physical gendered body.
Finally, I just don't think it matters...nor should it.
We're human beings. End if discussion.

I literally grew up with a gay uncle that I adore to this day. I knew from childhood that he was different, sensitive, loving and fun to be around. He was secretly termed the black sheep of the family which I would/could never accept I loved him so and never wanted anyone to label him. As a teen, I loved visiting he and his gay friends during the summer months and found so much talent amongst them; artists, interior designers, hair dressers, fashion designers . . . . . . what a wealth of knowledge. My uncle was my father's youngest of a family of four boys. He was born gay, and is 80 years old now. Years ago, it was extremely difficult to blend into society being gay; It was such a privileged being included in his circle of friends, he living on the West coast now, me back East. I miss those wonderful years with him.

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is linked to biology and genetics.
An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men & that this fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation; a 2005 study reported genetic scans showing a clustering of the same genetic pattern among gay men on three chromosomes; a study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 found extreme differences in X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay; and another 2006 scientific study found that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

Dear Jess,
What causes blue eyes?
It's all the same answer. some people are just born with blue eyes, it's not something they choose.
Some people THINK it's genetics and some think it's the "hormone bath" the fatuous is exposed to as the brain is first developing but either way most researchers and members of the LGBT community agree.
We're just born this way.
Hugs,
PennyAnn

I realized something about homosexuality, the more prone you are to accept it the better the chances you are to be drawn to it.
I do not agree with Homosexuality at all. Their have been Many accounts to where some Homosexuals who used to say I am born gay are now saying I am no longer gay and are in a relationship today with a Woman
Randy Thomas – executive vice president of Exodus International, one of the world's largest outreaches to those affected by unwanted homosexual attraction – has been free from same-sex desires for some 15 years.
He said he was once an out-and-proud gay man who was fully supportive of gay socio/political goals but has now embraced a healthy heterosexual approach to relationships.
"If they prove that a 'gay gene' exists in my DNA, why then aren't those genes controlling my life now?" Thomas posed in a column on WorldNetDaily.
I believe homosexuality is caused by how you grew up.

There is no answer to how a person becomes gay. Genetics?I say it is the way you feel inside.Nobody can make you gay!Honestly, do you think people would choose to lose their family and friends if they come out?Do you think somebody would choose to be different in their relationship?

Probably a bit of everything.
The truth is that we live in a world that polarizes people. I think that many people (heterosexual or homosexual) are actually bisexual, who have been somewhat forced to choose between homosexual or heterosexual.
In any case, homosexuality is likely determined before age 4 or so.

The same things that make people straight. Environment can affect sexuality, but only by so much. People are born the way they are. If someone's gay, you can't make them straight, so it's just they way they're born.

We were born this way. Like straight folks are born straight. I don't understand why it is so hard for people to wrap their head around this. You must have been raped, you must have not had a good relationship with your mother/father, your mom made you wear a dress, etc etc etc.
Plain and simple....We were born this way.
