I am writing an essay for my english class, and birth control was one of the subjects, and also the one that i chose, I was trying to find out some disadvantages to birth control, if it's given to younger teenagers ( like at ages 11-13) i know that it can cause blood clots and stuff like that, but i would like to know what else it can do like internally?? i'm having a really rough time with this because the web sites aren't helping me at all, i've looked for individual things on injections, pills and the patches, but it's not really helping me, the worst part about it is that i have only one more day to get this finished, i know this seems like a lot, but i would really really appreciate it if anyone could help me. and thank you to anyone who does..

Taking BC pills, patches or injections, affects your hormones, organs & has long term know & unknown side affects. So, a 11-13 year old, who is still growing doesn't need any add'l chemicals in their body affecting their hormones. There aren't any long term studies on side affects for adolescents, since the Pill promotor wants to keep selling the pills. Usually, studies take a long time to surface, as they did with HRT for women to prevent osteoporosis & heart disease. They found out the treatment actually caused heart disease & didn't prevent it.

Blood clots are generally a bigger concern for those over 35 who smoke, but are a possibility for anyone taking them. High blood pressure is one that can also come because of it. The changes in hormone levels can also change behavior. Weight gain is also another side effect. While it may be a little off your topic, I would think that one concern would be that it will lead them to have sexual encounters at a younger age and increase their risk for contracting an STD.

I have experienced severe hormonal imbalances. It can be so severe for some women that it is very similar to a psychotic break. I am one of the many women who physically can not tolerate birth control because it makes me crazy. To help you with your search for stuff, try using the word hormonal imbalance and pmdd.

When you do anything to change your hormones, it can make you act very irrationally. Hormones in the body control a lot of things. Hormones are responsible for almost every function in your body on some level.

Good luck on your paper. I hope this helped!
