cause im13 and all my friends have them but personly i think there stupid to have if u dont need em. what do u think?

When you get to about 16 because that is the age you start to go out with friends and stuff so i think 16 is a good age that way your parents can contact you for an emergency or anything.

I got my cell phone when I entered high school. There were 2 main reasons that I needed one.
1) I travel a little over an hour each way to school, & my parents want to know if ill be home late etc.
2) In my elementry school, if you needed, you could just use the school phone. my currrent highschool doesnt have that
also i spend so much time in school, it ends up being likely that i need to reach my mother sometime in the middle of the day.
also now i go places, stay at school for special events, etc. w/ very little or no warning

when i got my phone i was a freshman in highschool because i was in a lot of activities and i needed a way to contact my parents. But i got and still have a tracfone and have to buy my minutes myself until i have the money and things to buy a plan......I just dont have the money right now becdasue its all going towards my car payment.

I got my first cell when I was 10 fir my birthday ..My sister is getting one for her 10th birthday as well...I think cellphones are great!! I use mine all the time...ex)When my 4 wheeler broke down the only thing i had was my cellphone and believe me when I say it saved me ALOT of walking!

honestly I thought cell phones were not a necessity for kids, but I see all this violence happening at school, all school age kids need a phone in case of an emergency.

I think when kids start going places by themselves they need cell phones so their parents can call them or they can call their parents in case something happens. If parents needed to call you (and you weren't aware they needed you so you wouldn't call them) they can't call a payphone, so having payphones around won't help.

It depends. I got my cell phone when I was 9 adn my mom gave it to me because I do a lot of activites and she is really overprotective.

well in alot of cases a cell phone has saved peoples lifes so i would say it's good to have a phone

i think they are great at any age that you are separated from your family. whether it be at school, a baseball game, a mall, anywhere other than at home. it is part of today's life & in an emergency-you need to have one with you.
13 year olds should definitely have one
