We took the Philippines as a penalty to the Spanish for the War of 1898. We did protect them during World War II. We are still paying Filipinos benefits for those that fought with us during World War II.
I agree that we should issue a formal apology for taking them over in 1898 but not pay any more penalties.

If the US should apologize, then we all better get in line. There have been many conquests over the history of the world, and I don't think that the phillipines deserves an apology any more than the French who were conquered by the British in Canada, or the Natives who were conquered by the French in Canada. The Natives conquered by the Americans in the US, the Indians conquered by the British in India, the many people conquered by many nations in Africa, etc, etc. The list is just too long. Why should we single out the Americans?

The United States has not taken over and in control of the Philippines. Doesn't that country have its own president elected by law?
As in every country the United States has had direct influence, that country has improved economically, socially, and politically for the better of its people.
I continue to wonder exactly how much money in the billions that the conquering United States has poured in to the small country of the Philippines.
No apology is necessary.

Well, I would have to say no because we weren't the first country to take over their nation. Spain was the first to take over the Philippines. Why should we have to give a formal apology when in the long run we gave them back their freedom after reestablishing a form of government taken away by the Spaniards?

besides the indisputable fact that that's totally noble for GBP to bypass forward and concern an apology, i'm uncertain if their intentions are organic. First, i think of that's their way of attempting to get out of the lawsuit from Pacquiao, hoping that in the event that they concern an apology, that's sufficient for Pacquiao and he withdraws the lawsuit. Secondly, Bob Arum has reported on extra advantageous than one party that he Pacquiao might in no way combat a Golden Boy fighter till they issued a suitable apology. So, besides the indisputable fact that that's a step interior the incredible course, i'm uncertain if this grew to become into accomplished with the suitable of purpose. yet regardless, with any luck that's a step interior the incredible course and with any luck we are going to see the beginning up of the tip of the impressive Rank Golden Boy feud.
