I won an acoustic guitar on ebay, and when I got the guitar, it had a few huge dings that weren't described in the auction. I made a claim with paypal, and escalated it stating I'd accept a refund of $100, since the guitar obviously was slightly damaged. This was escalated on the 14th, and the buyer has until the 24th to respond. If he doesn't, the claim will be decided in my favor. I really don't think he's gonna respond, and I also don't want a full refund cause I don't want to spend $65 of my own money to ship it back. Question is, will paypal just automatically give me $100 back if the seller doesn't respond? It clearly states that if the seller doesn't respond to the claim by the 24th, it will be decided in my favor. Thanks

If they did not hold the complete sum of the transaction from the seller then you may not have to send back the item. However if they did they will instruct you to send back the item with a tracking number. If you do not provide a tracking number then you will lose the guitar and your money. Once investigated again they will reward your money back.

Probably not.

What most people don't realise is that a refund from Paypal depends on the other person having enough money in their PayPal account for them to refund to you. PayPal does NOT give you a refund from their own money, they withdraw it from the sellers account and put it in yours. If the seller has no money IN his account, you get no refund.
