Yes, I read the article and yes both were from Michigan. Frankly there was no objectivity in their voting but it doesn't surprise me.

The baseball writers association is a joke to begin with. These are the same people who can't seem to get the hall of fame vote correct either.

georgie porgie loves to incite controversey, then hide behind "reporting people" and blocking people so he doesnt have to accept responsibility for what he says. That's kind of standard procedure for him. Oh well. What can ya do?

Anyway, Mags probably deserved some consideration for the MVP vote. He did have a pretty good year. But the Tigers' collapse at the end coupled with the just unbelievable season Arod had pretty much took anyone out of the running. It would have meant more if someone other than Tiger writers voted for him though. Clearly, the homer factor or more accurately dumbo Yankee hater factor played a big part in this one. Personally, I think people who base their opinions on anything but some kind of analysis and opt to vote for or against or hate teams, players or fans based upon the city they are from should be banned from conversation about the sport.

Especially if they dont have the nerve to get involved in the controversey they start.

Jim Hawkins of the Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich., and Tom Gage of the Detroit News, both voted for Maggs.

Yet, It doesn't matter because Alex won the MVP by over 100 more points than Maggs.

he shouldn't have gotten any 1st place votes. Arod was clearly the MVP without question. Ordonez was clearly second. There was no comparison in the value. Arod single handly got his team in the playoffs.

The two writers from Detroit should be stripped of their vote. It was more of an anti-yankee vote than an objective one.

*Only?* Seriously, as good as Mags was this year, that's two too many. Like him or hate him, A-rod was far and away the best player in baseball this year. And just so you know, I despise the Yankees (Angels fan). But you have to give props where they're due.
