It is simply a fact that the dollar is weak, and it is a fact that these two leaders don´t like Bush and his "activities" on the world scene. So, they are meeting and talking about this, I don´t see the big deal.
I´ll try to say this politely - whenever leaders in the "rest" of the world (non-American-friends) get together and come up with ideas which don´t serve to prosper the USA, they are deemed as an "evil enemy". What is so threatening about the fact that they see the Euro being stronger and better suited to be used for oil-business? (other than the fact that it would hurt the USA?). They are just looking for an alternative.
I did not read that they are planning to "take down" the USA themselves, rather they are claiming it is "falling", along with the dollar. They don´t mind, but this shouldn´t come as a surprise.
As for threatening to raise oil prices if attacked, I think it is fair for any "threatened" state to try to scare of a potential invader, and the USA should take this threat seriously.
To end with, I´ll point out that I´m not American-bashing, nor am I a fan of Iran or Chavez. Go give me a dozen thumbs-down.... I´m just pointing things out from another perspective.

Let me get this straight, they want to "take down" the country that buys about 70% of their oil. If the USA stopped using oil, they would be totally screwed and hurt themselves way more than the USA. Think about it, the USA (don't forget about the rest of the modern world) has a diversified economy and would be have severe economic pain, but Iran and Venezuela get all their money from oil and I'm sure most of their citizens would starve to death without oil money to buy their life necesities.
The bigger issue is what do these countries do with all that oil money? Ahmenijead(whatever) and Chavez misuse the funds to make themselves more popular and don't invest properly in their own economies. Ahmenijead and Chavez are distracting all there citizens by saying "All our problems are caused by the USA", when they are the problem (poor leaders). All the while lining their own pockets with the nations oil wealth. If the citizens ever got a sense of how incompetent Ahmenijead and Chavez are, those two schmuks would get ousted in a bloody coup.
Now those two morons are economists talking about a weak dollar. If they wanted to diversify away from the US dollar, they should have done that about 5 years ago when one dollar would have bought $1.40 in Euros. This a classic example of buy high and sell low, but with currencies instead of stocks. Eventually the dollar will gain strength and that oil will be super cheap for the US dollar. Give it about 5-6 years. Those F-ers better hope no one comes up with a none oil fuel, because they would be F-ed.
You shouldn't worry about the USA. When the weakness in the dollar stops, and it will, all of this will be immaterial. Five years from now, you'll be wondering what we were so afraid of. Sure, George Bush is a bad president, but he is nowhere near as bad as the Chavez and Ahemeni... douche bags.
If all else fails, we still have the F-15, M1A1, AEGIS Crusiers, M16, Cruise Missiles, etc.

If you do not feel threatened by Chavez you should do a little homework and see what some of his comments are about the United States - and how he intends to "bring it down."

Umm what makes them so bad for working to help the value of the dollar fall, that doesn't make Bush bad for doing exactly the same thing?
Not that I care for either wacko, I just would like to know we are on the same page.
All we are witnessing is the oil cartel equivalent to a wall-street hostile takeover, but when it is between oil cartels, things get a little more hostile.

They are only empowered by our addiction to oil. Change that and the Threat reduces significantly.
