IE- In this sentence would red and big be adjectives or would they be something else?

The big red ball shone brightly during the night.

Yes, you can. In fact, English grammar allows you to put as many adjectives as you wish in a row. Of course, that is usually not a very good idea.

There is also a general ORDER for listing different types of adjectives. The following page describes the different types and shows a chart of the usual order.

They're both still adjectives, because they modify the noun "ball" and describe a characteristic of it. In most cases, you would separate two adjectives in a row with commas.

The big, red ball shone brightly during the night.

My intense college French instructor taught us the luggage rule. Bigness, Age, Goodness, length. those adjectives come earlier the noun, all others stick to. EDIT: Yep, B stands for attractiveness. nicely, hey, that is been 35 years considering intense college French, lol.
