I live in Atlanta and I want to move to L.A. at some point but I hear horror stories.
Is it best to wait until you have your SAG card?
Where's the most reasonable city to live in nearby L.A.?
Any tips?

One of my students did, it was a long hard struggle, he did a few tv things, some theatre and so on, I don't know if he is still at it; I think it best to get your SAG CArd first. I have no idea where costs are reasonable in the LA area. Get really well established as a professional actor where you are, then consider moving. Have a job waiting for you when you get there and a place to live,. Plan ahead.

I live in West LA. Every person you meet is struggling with their: acting, screen writing etc...

Everybody does something else for a living. If you want to come to LA to work on your acting that's fine. But, go to school and have some sort of day job so you can stay alive. A lot of wanna be actresses become temp Legal Secretaries.

SAG couldn't care less about you.

Some of the Valley cities like Sherman Oaks are a bit less expensive to live in.

Sorry that I;'m not more encouraging; but, show biz is hard and dirty work.
