Trying to compare a waterproof mattress cover based on thickness of the vinyl (6mm) against another rated at 6 gauge.

I'm not sure if gauge in plastic is the same as in metal.
If it is ....a six gauge is 6/1000 of a inch ,estremely thin.
The vinyl 6 mm is a little more than a 1/4 of an inch.
One inch is 25.4 mm.

US vinyl gauge is simply the thickness in thousandths of an inch. 6 gauge vinyl is .006 inches.

Well if one is measuring sheet metal 12 gauge is 2.70mm considerably thicker than .42. I would think the a child's pool would be about .42.

try checking it against 6 mil plastic,
have no clue to mm i,m an americian
