Hi everyone! I want to start a fan website for Daniel Radcliffe w/ my friend... the only thing is, I'm not too familiar with creating an actual website. I don't just want to make on on yahoo or tripod or whatever. I want it to be really good and eventually, become popular- something like mugglenet.com or danradcliffe.com. I hope everyone understands what I'm talking about. So does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could start an actual serious, high-quality web site?? Thanks in advance!

The first thing to do is, go on google and search for websites that will teach you html/css, and I highly recommend http://www.lissaexplains.com/ there's even a forum for you to ask questions and stuff... but if you're in a hurry to build a quality website, then you can purchase layouts online instead, I would recommend:

http://centurydesigns.org/
http://www.impossi-ble.uni.cc/
http://designs.paintedsilence.org/

Then, find a reliable host with a good price, remember, you get what you pay for. Therefore, cheap host doesn't mean that it will offer the best service. I am currently planning to sign up with dreamhost.com because I've been doing many research and reviews about them and they seem pretty good, although their price are a bit high but they offer tons of disk space, but I guess you won't need them until your website have become really popular... so do some research about which hosting to choose

That's all I have to say lol, oh and don't forget a disclaimer page where you write about all the copyright stuff. good luck and have fun!

Whilst I can give you ideas for a website, the most common thing nowadays for fansites is using MySpace.

Open up a MySpace account and make the profile all about Daniel.
MySpace entitles you to be able to use a little html if which is good if you know absolutely nothing about coding. You can start from the bottom.
In addition to that, you will get more traffic faster than you would with a normal website..

Once you've fiddled around with the MySpace profile, you can then go on to making an actual website for him.

That said, there are tutorials available on the net for HTML and website/webpage making.
Just google "html tutorials".

The only reason why I suggest you starting off with MySpace is that you'll get a lot of traffic and you'll be able to get rewarded much quicker in terms of traffic and page views than when building a webpage/site from scratch.
But it's completely up to you how you want to start.

If you want more info/ideas into making a website, you can email me on mrs.dee23@yahoo.com.au

Have fun.

First, search for your topic-of-fanity on the web (Yahoo! or Google or MSN or Dogpile...) and find out whether someone has already done it. Likely so. See what they've done, and whether you can beat it!

Then, like someone said above, you'd better go about learning XHTML and CSS (w3schools.com), which is a sort of long and painful process... Or fetching Dreamweaver and learning it, which is a long and painful and $costly$ process... Or finding a website company that'll have some software to help you build a website... which won't exactly give you anything truly unique.

It's a hard life! Good luck!

http://w3schools.com/
Learn HTML and CSS first, these languages put websites together.

Just letting you know, be careful when you use celebrity images, they are most often copyrighted to photographers and you can get sued for using them (like Perez Hilton).
