It amazes me an adult would go this extent just so they could find out what she was saying about her daughter. They could have just walked down the street and talked to the girl and straightened it out. I have the greatest sympathy for Megan's parents . The ones who perpetrated this hoax will have to live everyday knowing they helped contribute to this troubled teens death. I hope they realize what they did but doubt it. I just dont know what crime they could be charged with. They will eventually be judged not by man but by God.

As the article stated, what crimes could the woman, her employee and the daughter be arrested for?

There is fraud; they fraudulently created a fake myspace.com account; however, myspace.com would be the plaintiff, not the Meiers. Also, this may not be a crime; merely grounds for a civil suit.

Involuntary manslaughter? Negligent homicide? Megan took her own life, thus, no one else actually killed her.

I do not believe there is an actual crime they could be arrested for.

What really burns me is that the mother of the "friend" has minimized her culpability in the conspiracy, stating since Megan had attempted suicide before, her actions had nothing to do with causing Megan to commit suicide.

I hope the mother and daughter are drummed out of town.

Of course I do. At the least they need to accept responsibility for what they did. Had it been the daughter and not the mother who came up with this scheme then that is one thing but it was not. The parent even made up the account and chances are it was the parent doing the corresponding with Megan. On top of all of this if the two girls were friends at one point and were close they parents probably knew about all the problems Megan had. Yes I think they should be prosecuted for something but I am not sure what all the laws are4e on cyber space.

what crime ? i agree they should be shunned, and if they get spit on every time they show up in public it wouldn't bother me, id even be willing to look the other way while Megan's mom and dad kicked the crap out of them, but there is no crime, and so no i don't think this is a legal case

If anyone is going to get charged (for what crime exactly I'm not sure, neither was the DA) the parents should be charged as well. While the actions of the friends parents are despicable, Meagan's parents knew more about her condition than anyone. Yet they allowed their 13 year old daughter they knew would be crushed to access My Space unsupervised.

It's hard to believe that adults would pick on a 13 year old girl. Yes they should be charged, and to the full extent possible.

this is so sad. those adults should absolutely be held accountable for what their actions and words caused. it sounds like it could be some sort of involuntary manslaughter. i hope that megans family can move past his and that the other family pays dearly for megans death. if the law of the land doesn't get them then the laws of karma surely will. my prayers are with that family.

these adults are scumbags, they should recieve charges of some kind and a tattoo on thier heads symbolizing what happened so all who see them will know what kind scum they are.
the one parent said she started the fake profile to see if the victim was "talking bad about her daughter". kids say bad things about other kids, its real life. scum scum scum

Definitely is is harassment and bullying that lead to a suicide.

It is reprehensible behavior from anybody, especially a mother, who is partaking in this activity with her daughter
