I make her spend her $5000 allowance each month. If she doesn't I make her roll it over to the next month and then have to spend it plus the other month's allowance. She says she simply can't spend it all each month and she's getting tired of trying? Does this sound cruel to you?????

This must be a joke, because no way a woman cannot spend five thousand dollars in a month, A Voutton bag, will not leave much change,it would not go any were if you go any were near a Cartier, try to buy an Armani suit or evening clothes?

Why do you feel the need for her to spend that much a month? Clearly your wife is not one of those women who buy just to buy. She only wants things she feels you all need. Why not just allow her to save up her “allowance” and let her get things as she feels she needs them.

She has a right to spend money the way she wants. 'Making' her spend it isn't cruel, but it is an over-assertion of power. You can't 'make' her do anything, and you shouldn't. If you want to do nice things for her, ask her what she wants.

Tell her to watch the 80s movie Brewster's Millions. That might help her spend some money! ;-)

Yeah. You're forcing her to do something she doesn't want to do. Let her put it in the bank if she wants to. What's the big deal? If you're giving it to her, it's her money and she should spend it as she pleases.

There are worse things that are much crueler than making your wife spend money. I wouldn't force her to do it. Let her spend as she wishes just as long it's not on another guy.

I'm express mailing her 12 deposit slips for my checking account, just tell her to deposit what ever has left over each month then she wont have such headaches over how to spend it. I wish I knew a person as cruel as you are... you horrible horrible monster you. lol lol

Why in the world does a grown woman have an allowance. You are married you buy what you choose.

well you're just the worst husband i've ever known! but, just a question - can she use it towards charity? because then she should have no problem getting rid of the money! she could shop for herself then give everything else to charity. at the end of the year, that's a hefty bundle to charity (and one hell of a write off for you!).
