I don’t like the use of opinions, I prefer to speak of that only what can be substantiated, unless that is, i clearly state, its my oppinoin, and thats the best i can do.
Everyone has the opportunity to voice that what they see from their perspective. The problems arise, when those whom do, confuse that opinion with delusional and falsified truth.
To hold an opinion, is to openly admit, you too, are willing to enter the debate.
Opinion is not unlike belief, to ones own belief based upon ones own interpretation founded by expertise, knowledge, experience etc, but not absolute fact.

Opinions take on many forms:
Valuable
Solicited
Rhetorical
Personal
and many others I'm sure.
A valuable opinion is one that is based on fact and can be beneficial to anyone who considers it. Valuable opinions are contextual and are relevant to a specific group or interest. They usually become accepted as common knowledge or are utilized as a best practice.
Solicited opinions are those that are requested by someone. Polls and surveys produce solicited opinions. In many cases, the asker places the opinionated in a controlled setting, giving them a selection of options to choose from in order to demonstrate their opinion. Think about phone surveys.
Rhetorical opinions are usually those given by people like judges. They voice these opinions without any regard for the opinions of those in audience. While a judge's decisions are thought to be objective in nature and based fully on the law, the interpretation of the law is open to the opinion of the judge. (by the way, i like judges. i wanna be one.)
Personal opinions are those formed by one's personal experience in the subject. Also prejudices about a given subject cause people to develop personal opinions. In fact prejudices may very well be opinions. These are the opinions people hide behind when they really don't know any facts on a particular subject.
An opinion can be any combination of 2 or more of these. In fact what you're reading now is my solicited, valuable, rhetorical and personal opinion.
But that's just my opinion....

I like to hear other people's opinions because often you get to look at something differently then you otherwise would have.
Because not everyone has the same opinion as you doesn't mean they are dis-respecting you either.

When I ask for an opinion, I really appreciate the person's sincere consideration of the matter at hand and sharing of his/her perspective.
When an opinion is unsolicited, I really appreciate the skill of tuning them out and turning off the volume.

I love opinions. I love discussing them. I love taking the underdog view just to keep things going.
Sometimes I feel like returning to college just for the environment. The discussions that happened in hallways and cafeterias. Being away from that environment has me living surrounded by people of mostly my same survey-group type. All of the agreement going on around me tends to make my opinions set like they are in cement. I dislike that and sometimes look for ways to insert myself into other environments just to keep things fluid

Hi,
I think it is most healthy for us to have differing opinions
Debate, consultation, veiws, etc.
It teaches us, if nothing else, that all folks are different, and a lot can be learnt from listening to others
I have learned a lot listening to others opinions, and I think that they may well have learnt something from mine.
So it is an amalgam of thought.
Now, where is the "GO" button on this thing ?

that sadly many opinions are formed on /by what society tells the individual, not by inner search and thinking, then deciding for oneself what the opinion is
everyone has a right to their own opinion, but it should be their own, not a repetition of what they have been told

Opinions are OK as long as we are aware that they may or may not be based on facts .
They are not a substitute for personal observation and experience.
