Im getting mix anwers from other managers saying they need extra help, but when I go to the top manager for my dep, i always get nothing. BTW, I was born in the UK, but they dont know that. I doubt very much if it is because you have Canadian heritgage however, when you feel you are not being treated fairly, all sorts of things go through your mind and you can become oversensitive. The best way to approach this is to be direct. Ask for five minutes with your boss and simply say that you would like to do extra hours but are told that there aren't any. However, you notice that your colleagues regularly work extra hours. Ask directly, is there a reason for this? Say, I am keen to work more hours but seem to be the only person for whom hours are not available.

It doesn't look like any type of discrimination if that's what you mean. The company do not have to give you extra hours unless they want to. Why not ask why they won't give you what you want. If you are as good as you think you are they won't want to lose you; perhaps they will try to help.

It looks like they don't want you working extra hours. It also looks like they don't have to give you extra hours.

It doesn't sound like anything! Are you suggesting you are being left out because they think you're Canadian? Thats' ridiculous - you need to ask!!!! Maybe there are no hours left or maybe you aren't very good at your job who knows! Ask.
