Hey girl-
I graduated in college in '06 and Facebook started becoming popular in Fall 2004, so it took about a year but i would say about 95% of my college friends joined facebook (even many graduates). Now that facebook has opened up to everyone, I would assume there are a few more people on there, but the demographic right now im sure is primarily 18-30 with some over-30+ year olds. If you are between 18-30, you will likely find many of your friends (current friends or old friends you ahvent talked to in a while) on there.
MySpace is different - it caters to an larger crowd, probably ages 16-45. You'd likely find a lot of your friends or acquaintances with a MySpace page versus a Facebook page.
Obviously both sites are a gigantic time-killer, but they are highly addictive! So be careful before you join both.... and make sure you don't post *too* much information on your profiles because you don't want a stranger danger getting a hold of some sensitive information! However, there are privacy settings on both sites for your profiles, so you can make your profile as secret or as public as you'd like

I have got both myspace and facebook.
Got myspace 1st then discovered facebook which i think is a lot better. It's a bit like friends reunited only you don't have to pay the membership to sends messages to old friends and school friends.
Try it you might like it.
You can keep your profile private so that only people who you except to view it can.

I have a myspace. My older son has both. My older daughter has a myspace, the younger one has a facebook. My younger son has neither - yet.
