Would you believe my friends pay me back before family?Blood is thicker than water. Yeah right! I say you choose friends not relatives. The thing that pisses me off is that they get an attitude with you when you ask for it back claiming that you're "trying to start something."
My aunt has been text messaging me all day about $14 for a meal she prepared for me as if she didn't just cause me to loose $100 yesterday. What nerve.
I am done being used! It kills me to imagine people in need potentially losing their homes, or getting their lights turned off even when they brought it on themselves by living outside of their means.
Right now, I am sitting here broke and looking dumb. Of course, all my bills are paid. However, I am used to having money to splurge. If an emergency were to come up right now, none of those poor as***s who have loans out would be able to help me.
It is almost Christmas time and I am mad as H*** about my missing money. Some of these people are habitual offenders.
From this day forward, they are all Outback---like the steakhouse if they need anything from me.

I’ve learned many hard lessons about loaning money. I understand that sometimes you want to be of assistance to those you care about but you need to establish rules in lending.
1. Make it a point to get a clear understanding of the loan terms (how much you’re lending and when you expect payment; get it in writing, especially large sums of money)
2. Never lend to someone who hasn’t repaid their last loan (if they’re having a hard time paying the first loan; the second loan will be even harder to collect)
3. Never loan more money than you can afford to lose. Loaning is a risky business, that’s why financial institutions have extremely difficult guidelines to follow when giving a loan.
I still loan money to friends and family members who have record of paying me back, those who have borrowed and not paid back...I wouldn't dare loan a cent to again. And if they asked I would explain to them I would love to help but the last time I loaned you money, you didn't pay me back. Nothing to sugar coat…business is business!
REMEMBER: Never loan more than YOU can afford to lose!

I do not loan money to friends or relatives anymore because I have been taken for granted. When I confronted the relative about not paying back she called me selfish. If I don’t have money to “give” away (which is hardly ever) then I tell them I am broke.
Some people think that because they are close to you that it is okay for them to impose on you and in my book it is never okay.
P.S. One relative borrowed money from me in order to GIVE money to another relative and never paid me back. I was so mad.

when I loan money, I don't expect it to come back. I'll only loan it for reasons that I feel would help out. If I get the money back, It's kinda like a bonus! I can say no also!

My personal view on this is "neither a lender nor borrower be". Besides, I have seen too many relationships messed up by loaned money. It immediately puts one side in power over the other side. Most people do not like being in a position of weakness in a friendship.

My mom loaned money to her sister. Many excuses later and it's not paid back, and never will be.
I've loaned to my son, and gotten it back. I'd not loan to anyone else.

Yes if you know that you probably are not going to get it back and are ok with it.... otherwise that would be a big NO!

I do, but I tell myself it's a gift. That way, if I don't get paid back, meh, and when I do, I'm surprised and happy.
