I went for 2 interviews for a great job last month and they called me back to take a drug test and criminal background check and that was two weeks ago. I called them friday to follow up and see what was going on and they said they just recieved all my info back on the criminal check and they were currently proccesing everything and I would hopefully hear something in the next few days.

What the heck is going on, are they just spending all of this money time on me for the heck of it or do you think that they are going to hire me but are taking their time about it.

BTW this is for a state owned institution

Companies don't seem to care that every day that they leave you hanging is one more day that the next company could hire you.
As long as your criminal check and drug test turned out better than anyone elses then the job is yours, if you are willing to wait for them to call you. Companies won't spend the money to run these tests unless they plan to hire you.
In the meantime if you need a job do not stop looking until they give you a start date.
A few years ago I was sent out for the drug test which I knew I would pass but they never called me back until 3 weeks later. By that time I had already been at my new job for 2 1/2 weeks. I figure it was their loss.

That says it all. Watching them work is like watching a car rust.
What takes one person 5 miunutes in private industry takes a committee a week in government.Get used to it.
