I have a nice stentor 1/2 size cello... possibly around 10-13ish years old, I bought it for £275.. about 10 years ago.
any idea how much it'd be worth now??
it's in great condition apart from a couple of chips in the varnish but nothing at all major.
also, any ideas on good places to sell it??

It really depends on the make etc but listing it on eBay can sometimes get you a decent price. You can always set a reserve price on it for safety.

Modern student instruments (for that is what yours sounds like) don't appreciate very much because they can only ever be used as student instruments - they are not good enough to be used professionally. In addition, 10 years is VERY young for a string instrument - it's barely played in. If you have a decent music shop nearby (I mean one that actually buys and sells string instruments), you could ask them for an evaluation. They'll charge you a bit for it but, after all, you're buying their skill and expertise.

Hmm, it really depends. You'd have to play them to be absolutely sure, because you can't take one look at an instrument and say, "That's good." Rosewood is fine for a cello. But as these are selling below the 1k range, I'd be suspicious. Most of the better sounding cellos I've seen are AT LEAST 5k and above, but money does not necessarily determine relative quality, and neither is looks. Again, I'm sorry if this doesn't help, but the best way is to scrounge around, ask a couple of good cello professors/teachers if they have any good cellos lying around, and do what you can. But it's generally a bad idea to buy ANYTHING you want to handle to get the hang of on the Interwebs. This, at least, is from experience.

take it to a local music store maybe they will give you a fair price. If they won't give you atleast 70-85% of what you payed and it is in good condition, then try selling it in the classifieds or to a local school.

I would place an advertisment in the paper and sell it privately. You should get about 200 pounds for it.
