The only 100% effective form of birth control is abstinence. The IUD is 99% effective.

The only method of contraception that is 100% effective to prevent pregnancy is Abstinance from sex.

All other methods of contraception are only like 90% effective so there is still like a 10% chance of concieveing, even on them.

Yes. My mom did the year before she got pregnant with me. She had a miscarriage because of the IUD at 4-5 months. She had it removed and I surprised my parents a year later.

Why are so many people telling this woman to abstain from sex? You have no idea how old she is or if she is married. Are you telling me you would suggest a 30 year old married woman and her husband abstain from showing their love to one another??? That is absurd!

Extremely unlikely, as long as it is still there. However, remember that this offers you no protection against STD or HIV.

This is a very important question and I think you should discuss it with the clinic who fitted the IUD.

Yes, NO Form of birth control is 100%
I knew a women that became pregnant after she had a "tubal".

Yes.

Nothing is 100%.

If you get pregnant with one of these, the chance of it being a tubal pregnancy go up, and so the chance of something happening to you or the baby go up.

Which is why you should still use a condom.

IUD's are not safe anymore, neither are shots. It can cause you not to concieve anymore and possibly weaken your uterine walls. Go the safe way and use a condom or better yet abstain!
