The Most Controversial Player- Alex Rodriguez
Everything he does is controversial. Him sneezing wrong could be controversial. Everything he does is major news and is looked at with a magnifying glass. Controversy follows him wherever he goes.
MY FAVORITE PLAYER IS...- JOSE REYES. Well first let me say that we have the same birthday. Then let me say that he's a player I always want to be like. He has awesome speed, quick bat, and an amazing arm. HE'S AWESOME!

My most controversial player would be Joe Jackson. After a Grand Jury investigation and being acquitted by a Chicago jury for fixing the 1919 World Series (in which he hit .375 with perfect fielding percentage), along with the other seven players, Joe Jackson's name remains on the MLB Ineligible list. Jackson should be in the Hall of Fame, but can't so long his name remains on that list. He has the third highest all-time career batting average in MLB and still holds the White Sox franchise records for triples in a season and career batting average. In 1999, he ranked Number 35 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players and was nominated as a finalist for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team.
Jackson ranks 33rd on the all-time list for non-pitchers according to the win shares formula developed by Bill James.
Favorite player would be Bob Gibson. In 1969, they lowered the pitching mound largely because of his dominance.

I'll stay out of the drug issue. We all know Bonds is very controversial. I'll spin a different direction.
Most controversial...
Pete Rose. I don't think there will ever be uniform consensus on whether what he did as a manager has bearing on his deserving of a place in the HOF as a player. Should he or shouldn't he be in? Is what he did the same or worse than Shoeless Joe Jackson? What is the impact of gambling?
My favorite player...
Vlad Guerrero
Honorable mention to Ichiro.

Most controversial... well Bonds is up there but I would have to say Joe Morgan. During his career he was great, but now that he's a broadcaster he has said many stupid things and also many controversial things.
Favorite: David Eckstein. He has a tremendous work ethic and stays in the Majors because of that. He is a very average player and yet he has won two world series and been a world series MVP, just because he works his @$$ off.
If this was basketball my answers would be Barkley and Nash

Most controversial: Barry Bonds. Not just because he violated the law, but because if you are the HR champ*, everything you do will be looked at 50 million times over.
Favorite Player: Baby Grand! Curtis Granderson!

Pete Rose, although Bonds is hot right now, there is no questions that he WONT make the HOF because lets face it, if Big Mac can't make it, Bonds never will, homerun record or not! But Rose, everyone who knows baseball can argue Pete Rose's situation FOREVER and that's what makes great controversy!!!!
Favorite all time Ted Williams, only baseball player's jersey I own, only man to hit .400 and only man who has his own seat in Fenway, the red seat! The only sad part is I was not around to see him play because I wasn't born yet.
don't forget, he was a highly decorated marine as well as baseball player too.

Well, for most controversial, I would have to say Barry Bonds. I think its self explanitory, actually.
For favorite player, I'd have to go with Lou Gehrig or Mickey Mantle. Though I'm not a Yankee fan, those two men were baseball phenomenons. They were truly amazing and I believe that if anyone wanted to have a baseball "hero" it should be one of those two. They are inspirational people, and in my opinion, anyone like Gehrig or Mantle should never be judged or disliked because of the team they were on. I saw one girl who said that she "hated" Lou Gehrig because he was a Yankee. How absolutely insane is that? They were two of the greatest baseball players ever and for that, they're my favorite ALL TIME baseball players.
Great question!
