Let us say that I am comfortable with my darkness. It is my ability to appeciate and enunciate such darkness so clearly that has given me such sustaining power; never does my art possess such intensity as when it is inspired by the darkness of life. My writing is at its most lucid and capable when I am writing about those shadows that haunt mind and soul.
I just don't get the same motivation from the light.

First you imply that we live in some place called 'the Darkness' then demand how the answer must be. Is there any more control over this conversation you would like?
Dark and Light are dualist concepts that have absolutely no real meaning.

The light is for action- for consciousness of actions and thoughts.
Darkness is for creativity, introspection, and pondering things learned.
If we only had light, we wouldn't have the time to grow as an individual. We'd never find our inner selves if we only valued pure efficiency.
At the same time, if we only had darkness, we'd never get anything done. We'd dwell on experiences long-ago, and couldn't push ourselves forward.
Although light and darkness are opposites, they should be equally valued. Characteristics of mankind are further flawed in imbalanced action and imagination.

I embrace the darkness because everything in the light has hurt me. When it's dark I can't see who is hurting me, so in a way I'm protected.

I do not like living in the darkness. I've been there, and living in the light is immeasurably better.

I would rather live in the lite of day...
so I can see what I am doing!! lol
but then I do love to sit in the dark to
watch TV or listen to music..somehow
it just feels better to me!!

since you capitalized 'Darkness' I will take that to mean ignorance. In general, no, I do not like to live in Darkness. but for somethings, it's better not to know. how much insane brutality in the world must we hear about every day?
ignorance is bliss- it sometimes applies to me... not usually, but sometimes.

Only if the glare is too bright on the computer screen. Then I turn down/off the lights.

The darkness can hide you,. though it is weak to hide.
As for your question: I do 'like' to 'live' in the darkness, I guess, but am ashamed.
