Only if you can risk getting a lot of hard 1 liners that "lead" to nowhere...

Not cost effective. Even Chinese Prison Labor can't compete with what they pay writers here.

Most writers work on spec. No sale, no payment. You can work for months on a script with nothing to show for it but a bunch of rejection slips and a few of your gags mysteriously appearing on different shows.

What the writers are asking for isn't outrageous, just a share in the internet rights for what they wrote.

"writers are the most screwed people in all of entertainment"

what a bold and ignorant statment. What is it exactly that a writer risks when he writes a script? Nothing.

Writers have no risk involved, they get paid upfront. They never have a fear of losing money on a script that they do not personally finance.

No risk, no reward. By your logic, cooks at McD's should make more than managers because they "work" more.

that is one of the worst questions I have seen....writers are the most screwed people in all of entertainment

Phil M do you know any writers....i do, he writes for Conan O'Brian, he gets up at 5 am everyday...looks at the news and ect. and writes 50 jokes, then meets with 3 other writes and they narrow it down to 20 jokes....then they meet with 6 other groups and narrow it down to 30, and do this 3 more times.....then conan pics a 10min set from what they have....he gets paided poorly, and considering its just a late night tv show, i cant imagion what its like for tv series writers............do you think dave and lenno make this **** up themselves everyday...lol

It wouldn't matter to me.
I'm not viewing the crud they're broadcasting these days.

I spend my entertainment hours on Boomerang.
