I do not have any energy. I am a stay at home mom as I am cleaning cooking, or tending to my 2.5 yr old. I feel the overwhelming need to sit or lie down (most tasks are left incomplete). I usually sit for more than a 20-30 minutes at a time. Even after I have rested I get up to do other things and I still feel like I need to sit back down. I do not have any "urges" to be intimate. I do not always sleep 8 complete hrs but I do take occasional naps one and half to two hours a day. My moods are triggered easily and most times they are not good ones. It seems like my husband arrives and with in an hour I am already mad at him for no good reason. I do not smoke, I drink maybe every 3 months and no more than 3 drinks. I do not eat much fast food nor do I frequent restraunts much. I cook at home I rarely fry. I eat Rice, Eggs & Chicken - frequently, red meat, pork & turkey - seldom, I do not like fish (except tuna). I eat a variety of Fruit & Vegtables though I must admit not enough.~Thanks

By any chance did you have gestational diabetes while pregnant? Or an elevated glucose tolerance test? Even if you didn't, I would go to my doctor and have some tests/screenings done. Fatigue of this level is very worrisome (and is a HUGE symptom of diabetes and hypoglycemia, both). Have you had a flu or other serious illness in the last few years? It's possible you could have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFIDS). I'm also hearing a need for some serious "Mommy Time", reading between the lines here. How often do you get to be by yourself and uninterrupted in any way for any length of time?

Delayed reaction to post-natal depression? Or just being worn out by the kid? Here are a few hints:

Try getting outside at least once a day for an hour, for a walk. Also after dinner for a second walk. That's a number one energy booster.

I drank this wheat-grass drink - it's a powder, found it at natural food store, it's made with stevia, it gave me energy that lasted for many hours.

Cut down on processed foods - you may be consuming too much without realizing it - high fructose corn syrup and msg are two culprits that slip into food unaware, going by the label "natural/artifical flavorings."

There are a lot of junk vitamins out there, if you feel like you need some b-vitamin, make sure it's of the best quality.

Volunteer somewhere, preferably an outdoors environment.

menopause can hit women of any age... a lot of what you are describing started happening to me long before I went to a doctor to find out... sleep at night became irratic and then I would nap during the day which didn't help the night time sleep, but I just couldn't help it. I was always so tired.

It could also be depression. We don't always know or realize that we are depressed. I would consult your doctor. I might can help you with your energy problem, if you want to send me a message through my profile.

Some good vitamins would probably help also...
~good luck to you

I can recommend several things that are good for energy..... but after reading all your symptoms, it sounds like you're actually depressed, not lacking nutrients.
I would suggest talking to a counselor to help... let them know about the symptoms you are experiencing, and they should be able to work with you on that.

In the mean time, there are some herbs that help with mood support like St. John's Wort, SAMe, some B-Vitamins, GABA, Ashwagandha, and L-Theanine.
Also, if you would like a boost for your energy sooner, you could try like ATP (the source of cellular energy in the body), CoQ10 (which is used to produce ATP), L-Carnitine (an amino acid that converts fat into energy), Royal Jelly, B-vitamins, GABA, NADH (boosts brain transmitters dopamine and norepinephrine so it helps to fight fatigue), Ginseng, Eleuthero Root, and Guarana.

Whatever happens, just remember that things can and will get better if you work on them.... you CAN get through this. Good luck!

In addition to multi-vitamin with minerals, I would take fish oil and begin to exercise in some way (very important).
I have recently tried an herbal supplement called Dong Quai that I like a lot. It really peps me up. Try it and see what you think. Best luck.

Your diet sounds pretty good. I would increase the vegatebles and fruits. I also found from my own experience that when I'm tired its because my iron is low. Also working out for a little bit will help to increase your blood flow and make you more energized.

Maybe you should start taking multivitamins with vitamin b 12 for energy. As far as not having any 'urges', you should speak with your OBGYN about hormone replacement if you think that would help.

I agree mostly with Judy B. I would take B12, drink Red Raspberry Tea (no sugar!) and drink green tea. The teas are both awsome for you, Red Raspberry is an all over "female" tea and the Green Tea will remove toxins. Make sure you get enough sleep each night.

Have you seen your doctor?

A number of conditions could cause your symptoms. Chief amoung them are anemia, low thyroid and depression. You should see your doctor first for testing, there may be a simple medical explanation.
