I don't know about the "many" but certainly some of them are/were. Sylvia Plath, Ernest Hemingway, Vincent Van Gough, Oscar Wilde, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, the list is endless. Pick any field, any talent and you will find tortured individuals just as you would in everyday life. Sometimes their genius seems to be fed from their need for attention or love. This is true of many people not just the very gifted.

Yes its quite difficult....they have this extreme beautiful gift say a musician singer and they have an ego that they have to keep at bay and everyone is trying to control them all the time from managers press agents label companies fans future business deals in performing etc.. etc.. etc.. plus they are always on the move especially if they are an international person living out of a suitcase to make their living to support their loved one in the own country.....
The fact that they are talented and gifted they are creative and they know no time boundaries they have Divine madness hehe and they want to be free spirits not tyed down to problems of the everyday because their life is a stage and they get that love and admiration when they perform...I think it is not always all that glamour that everyone always thinks its a stressful life and their private lives are always being intruded on and if they have trust issues to begin with from a small child they will have worse issues in trusting the parasites that could hurt them...they need to be around people that love and support them and not judge them & want anything from them treat them special yes in admiration and inspiration but never use them be true.....

I'm not sure that's true for the majority of them. I think they are probably unbalanced individuals - having a lot of genius and talent crammed into one or two areas of their being while deficient in others. It's the old "absent minded professor" stereotype at work. Einstein probably couldn't dress himself. That kind of thing.
It does not mean that the majority of them would end up "extremely troubled people". That's quite a different matter.

I wouldn't say that I'm "extraordinary" talented, but I do sculpt and paint and I found myself in a very huge battle with heroin. I have always felt unhappy or sad, so I would say yes based on my UNFORTUNATE experience. Look at all the famous singers and actors and artist. Not all but alot of them self medicate like I did.

Yes, I believe it is. Apparently the more intelligent people think more deeper and therefor realise all the faults in this awful world. Where as the people who are not so gifted just trudge on, letting whatever comes their way be, not really caring. I think that's why it's more likely for the more talented people to commit suicide etc. Susssi x

Yes lots of comedians suffer from depression and bipolar disorder like Spike Milligan and Stephen Fry. Perhaps its the clash of highs and lows that make them genius'

Yes, i think so. Many depresed people deal with their troubles by masking them under the guise of an entertainer and they do it very well.
