Does the omega symbol in brackets, before a username have any significance?

I've noticed this phenomenon recently. Does it mean anything?

Sadly, by some unfortunate lapse, the government accidentally mislaid the disks containing all this sensitive information, which is now nowhere to be found, but feared to have fallen into the wrong hands. But surely, I hear you ask, they were encrypted? Oh, sorry no.
