Imagine a weekly TV series where every episode featured a different story that took place during the 1960s . Some episodes would be about famous people and based on situations that really happened . Other episodes would be about ordinary people living their lives . NOW -- If there was such a TV show, what should its theme song be ? I only have three rules -- My first rule is that this theme song has to be a leftover from the 1960s . My second rule is that it has to evoke images of something that was definitely part of the 1960s . Two examples would be "If You're Going To San Francisco" or "The Age of Aquarius" . My third rule is that you can't nominate MY examples . What are YOUR ideas ?

There are probably a lot of good ideas for your theme song, but I can't think of anything better than "Those Were The Days" ( "Those were the days, my friend, We thought they'd never end" ) . Back in the 1960's, many people lived life on their own terms ( "We'd live the life we'd choose" ). They expected to sing and dance forever and a day . They'd fight and never lose for they were young and sure to have their way . A lot of people had high hopes, including President Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr . THEY dreamed of all the great things they would do . "Those were the days, my friend . We all thought they'd never end ." . Finally, "the busy years went rushing by us" and "we lost our starry notions on the way" . However, "we're older but no wiser for in our hearts, the dreams are still the same ." .

Beatles "There are places I remember" comes to mind.

Man it's a tough question because there are so many awesome songs from the 60's..

"Turn, Turn, Turn" by the Byrds.

"The TImes they are a-Changin" By Bob Dylan

I'd like to see such a show. It could focus on several friends.. their lives in the 60's (as young people in their early 20's) and could incorporate alot of the major events of the 60's as well.. Could deal with their reactions to the craziness of the decade...I think it would be cool...
