Liquid ffabric softener in the wash water. You can also add some baking soda in the wash water to soften the water which in turn softens the fibers in the garments. Vinegar added to the rinse water also softens the fibers and sets the dye for dark colored garments. But, I often toss the garments upon which I have used vinegar into the dryer on air or low heat for a couple of minutes because the vinegar smell can return after the garment is dry in very hot weather and the heat dissapates it in short order.

Your dry cleaners used a solid low priced solvent. i might take the clothing returned and *****. Take them to a different cleaners next time. cling the clothing outdoors to air out for awhile.

make a big rubber band and sling shot them way high in the air, and by the time the fall back down, they'll be fluffy and dry.

fabric softener in the wash cycle, or you could fluff em up for a minute after they are already air dried. thus minimizing power use / pollution for the most part at least. by the way...THX, for doing your "BEgreen" part

I like 'em stiff. They iron up nicer and feel like new.
