First, ask your doctor. He/She may be able to help you with a good diet and exercise plan that will be safe for you and the baby.

Don't try the no-eating-after-a-certain-time thing. Eat several small meals throughout the day to maintain your blood sugar and your energy level, and to keep from getting so hungry that you eat *too* much at your next meal. That may also help with controlling nausea, in case you get hit with morning sickness. Keep in mind that your meals and snacks should be high in protein and fiber, low in fat and sugar.

As for exercise, do whatever the doctor says is allowed. If you get too tired, break it up into shorter sessions done more often. If walking 2 miles wears you out, walk 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. If it's too cold or rainy where you live, go to the nearest shopping mall to walk.

Also, try not to stress too much. It's not good for you, the baby, or anyone else around you. If you can, take time out to pray, meditate, or just sit quietly a couple of times a day. It'll help with your stress level and your blood pressure, too.

Take care of yourself! Best wishes to you and your baby!

Now is not the time to be thinking about a diet or cutting back on eating. Your baby needs nutrients. The only thing you need to focus on is eating good foods (fruits, vegetables, protein) Don't eat junk food because it is bad for you and the baby. And you may have been 140 lbs two years ago, but that was two years ago. You have already had a child and you might not have lost all of the baby fat from that pregnancy. Start an exercise plan after you deliver and for right now sit back and relax because you have the best excuse in the world to pack on the pounds!!! :) Good luck.

WOW, YOUR VERY EARLY IN PREGNANCY TO WEIGH THAT BUT DON'T WORRY!!!! It's not too late! Just really watch your diet which can be VERY hard with cravings and all. I had the mentality "oh I can lose the weight after the baby, it's only 3 slices of pizza" boy was I wrong!! eat fresh veggies go on brisk walks do pregnancy yoga stay away from breads!!!! Not to say you can't eat any of the goodies, just make sure your intake of healthy foods is greater than the bad ones. Rye bread is the best bread to eat and is good for you as well. Fish is very good, even thought hey say stay away from seafood a little halibut or salmon definately won't kill or harm you. drink lots of water and excercise when possible. Good luck and congratulations!

I and 6 ft tall and weighed 200 when I found out I was pregnant...my doctor told me I could maintain my current weight or gain no more than 10-15 lbs and the baby would be fine...to date, at 19 weeks pregnant, I have gained 2 lbs. I did this by not increasing my caloric intake...I still eat the same amount of calories I ate before I got pregnant...about 1500 a day...and I drink a TON of water and eat lots of veggies...I am trying to cut my carbs to no more than 50% a day and so far so good...my baby is healthy and I feel great....

I also was overweight during my pregnancy. I only put on about 20-25 lbs. I found what helped the most is to eat small meals through out the day. I had high blood pressure and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The diabetes diet helped in those last 10 weeks to keep me from going overboard. Walking does help also. Good luck!

Don't worry too much. Yes the extra weight can make delivery harder or you more uncomfortable. You are also at higher risk for gestational diabetes. Just make sure you are eating a healthy diet and getting exercise. Talk to your doctor before starting any new exercises though. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietician. They can help you come up with a healthy menu for during your pregnancy. Don't try to lose weight now though, plenty of time for that after the birth! Just be as healthy as you can and don't worry about it. The stress is worse for the baby than a few extra pounds. I have seen much heavier women come in to deliver and their babies are fine. I was overweight with my 2nd pregnancy and she is a happy healthy 3 year old now. It sounds like you have a little one at home so you should get lots of exercise chasing him/her around! Good luck!

i weigh 215 lbs ( aghhh!) and my normal weight is around 140 lbs. i slowly gained in the last 2 years aswell.

i am freaking out at the weight i have gained, but i have not gained any in my pregnancy yet and im 21 weeks. all i can say is eat healthy foods, not junk and try and excersise. i walk for around 1/2 hour 3-4 week. im making sure i dont put my body under too much stress tho as my doc says baby 100% healthy atm.

once baby is out im going to workout hard core to get my skinny body back.

i have been eating 2 hard broiled eggs for breakfeast, if you stay at home you can make 2 eggs and a little cheese, under 500 cal tv dinner for lunch and a can of green beans, same for dinner and anytime i am hungry in between i eat 94% fat free popcorn, it has made me maintain and lose weight while still being healthy! Also my mom has a tread mill so about 2-3 times a week i walk for half hour, when im at home hubby and me walk the block a few times.
GOOD LUCK!

It's easier said then done, but obviously no bad foods..potatoes, donuts, no fast food, cookies..unless you get a urge/craving it's ok to cheat a bit. But stick to fresh fruits, and veggies, brown rice, wheat's..and try to go for walks everyday..20-30 mins. You'll maintain your weight , and without eating healthy, and exercise you'll most likely gain a lot more then intended, and it will be a lot harder to shed the pounds after the baby.
