Try WD40.

Spray it where the water got inside. It's made for that.

If possible, turn it off, let it dry out some more uncharged i.e., no batteries, no computer attachment.

You see if the mp3 player is wet and charged, the water can cause short circuits and corrosion. Water does far less permanent damage if there is no charge on the player.

You may have permanently damaged your player. But the only way to tell is let it dry out completely than try it again.

Good luck.

While I was writing, somebody above me suggested WD40. The stuff is great for corrosion, say on a battery connection. (If the battery connection is the problem, clean it with WD-40).

But WD40 is also electrically conductive. So if you use it to clean anything up, treat it like water. Make sure that the battery is disconected and the unit is not charged. Make sure that the unit is clean and dry of any WD40 before connecting the battery again.

There may be more involved instructions out there for that specific device on the web, but the general approach to wet electronics is to remove the battery or disconnect from the power, dry the device as much as possible, including disassembly if you can manage to get the case apart (not always easy to figure out or accomplish).

An alternative to disassembly is to tap the device gently in several different directions onto a firm surface (a dry towel, etc). Then dry by using a hair dryer set on low, and/or just put it in a warm place, maybe under an incandescent lamp - check it frequently at first to ensure you aren't overheating it - IOW, a 100 watt bulb at two inches is probably too much power and too close. You don't need to try to boil the water away, and you obviously don't want to melt the case, etc.

Hi There, The Contacts on your Battery Spring may have come a bit corroded when they got wet, just try using an old tooth brust to attempt to brush away any corosion. Then Try Again. If the MP3 player will not switch on still. I would consider buying a new cheap mp3 player.

put your mp3 player in a dry area overnight. if it still doesnt work, try open the casing and clean any moisture with a cotton bud.

be careful, battery acid might mix with the moisture held in the casing

Perservere - my phone fell in the sea. Take all the removeable parts apart and leave to dry on a radiator for 24 hours. My phone is fine.
