Why is it that when the same amount of people who die in other parts of the world it is hardly mentioned? There are websites, recovery groups, buildings, monuments, books, magazines, and other stuff made in remembrance of 9/11.

But when a cyclone kills 3,000 people in Bangladesh, when an earthquake kills 2,500 people in Indonesia, or when a terrorist group kills hundreds of people in the Phillipines, it is barely mentioned and it almost never makes the front pages. Most people will never hear these stores. Why?

Are American lives worth more than other lives? To me, I think a human in Sri Lanka is the same as a human in New York City. To me, a street beggar in Calcutta is just as worthy of life as a millionaire in Beverly Hills. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

By the way, not only am I an American but I am also an Airman in the Air Force. I feel sad every time I think about 9/11 and I wish it never happened. BUT, far worse things happen every day, like it or not.

It needs to be a story that sells. I agree 100% that everyone is equal.

Earthquakes, cyclones, etc. those happen in life. While a terrorist attack such as 9/11 was planned and followed out from another group. Nothing can be done for backlash from a natural disaster, and it is hard to "learn" from those. While with a terrorist attack, we can say "ZOMG U GIAZ R DED." Also, most natural disasters have a warning ahead of time, giving them time to escape from the danger, where as with 9/11 they had no chance, they had no idea it was happening. And a last thing, look at what impacts people as a whole more, showing how vulnerable we actually are to opposing groups, or people dieing from a natural disaster who (generally) had time to prevent their death.

It's just how it is.

If it bothers you so much do something constructive instead of fighting windmills.

The number one cause of human misery is the lack of access to potable water.

Instead of wasting time and energy on YA, do something. Sell your PC, get rid of your internet access and send the mone to:
http://www.water.org/index.aspx

It's a lot better than judging others.

we hear about the other things (otherwise you wouldn't have known about them) but when something happens in your backyard you tend to pay closer attention to it because the liklihood of it happening again is greater. Also in this day and age our leaders want us to remember this so they may put us in a state of fear that will dictate our actions.

We, Americans send thousands of dollars in aid and we send ships to help the injured, Did YOU send money to us after 911. Americans themselves are caring people, we know how lucky we are, so we don't mind helping other nations. To test your thoughts, what if we right this moment pull every person, ship, and red american cent out of every foreign country. Do you think you would like us then?
