With the wide-sweeping (unConstitutional) powers Bush has annointed himself with to spy on Americans and intercept our phone and email traffic without a warrant, doesn't that make all us terrorism suspects in the eyes of the govt.?
Otherwise, why would they want all this information?

m1a1mikegolf: You missed the point (or didn't read the link). The govt. has computers going through ALL email and phone calls and segregating those with flagged words.
And as the article states, most "tips" end up in a wild goose chase for federal cops which pulls resources away from chasing real criminals and terrorists.

Freedom for All: You should change your screen name to pro-communist Stalin lover. There is no such thing as Freedom for All in a police state.

Given that BushCo has long been saying that everyone who disagrees with him is a terrorist, and that almost everyone disagrees with him about something, yes, we're all terrorists who hate America in their eyes.
Anti-American, isn't it?

Well, they can have all the info they want of mine...I am a pretty boring individual when it comes to the phone & email! Yahoo is about as vocal as I have been in the past few years!
But, they may just be turning into peeping toms getting their jollies listening to me & my gent planing our weekends, or proffessing our hots to each other! I am beginning to tire of it, as it is telling me exactly what kind of administration we have, & why we don't need that kind of administration. It is not what this country was founded on, & goes against everything I learned in school. We need to get off the TV's & the myspace's & 'reality tv garbage that we entertain ourselves with & educate & re-educate & elect people who can give us back our country, not give it away like Bush has been doing.
My company is just now, offering a 401K, & I am not sure what I want to do with it until Bush is out of office. I am afraid i will lose what I put into it in the next year.

The changes were to solve an issue that the Intelligence services had. It used to be that if a known terrorist called a person in the US it was illegal to monitor the conversation.
Now if you think about it - this is a little bit silly.
All the bill did was authorize monitoring if one end of the conversation has been lawfully 'targeted' by an intelligence service.
As long as you are not communicating with a terrorist organization outside the US - what are you worried about?

There are so many things wrong with your whole premise I don't know where to begin.
First and most important is that article is based on pure hearsay. It's just one person from San Francisco (most likely a registered Democrat and far-left liberal) with no corroborating evidence at all. It's an opinion piece, not news.
The fact that you'll blindly believe anything you read on the Internet with no evidence says more about you than about Bush.

In total agreement with Blueridge.
This subject reminds me of all the hate mail that I received recently simply because I said "Osama" in response to a question that asked "Who do you think is more attractive? Osama Bin Laden or President Bush?" I received more than 30 emails from users calling me a terrorist b-word.
The word "terrorist" is being thrown around so much now that it doesn't mean anything more than "I don't like you" or "I don't agree with you."

Only the dissenting voices are.

To m1Mike - Sorry, you are WRONG. bush is spying on AMERICANS with no warrant. What you are repeating is the "party line."
Surely you do not think that OVER 750,000 AMERICANS are "communicating with terrorists????"
Because that is how many "letters" have been issued.
bush is a frikking despot, plain and simple.

It is an automated system.
It looks for key words sent in a certain order.
Don't go looking for terrorist and you will have nothing to worry about.
