I was having bad cramps and a ton of pressure low. Well it turns out my cervix is still closed so all should be fine. They also ran a test to see if I will go in to labor in the next 2 weeks and that will be in tomorrow. I noticed though I had lost 2 pounds since last week when I had my 28 week appointment (last Tuesday). Is that normal? My eating habits have not changed at all, still healthy and lots of water.

They checked the baby's heart rate and it was fine. I can't remember the test name that they just did... but it was done like a pap smear

It's fine if you lost a couple of pounds. Surely they are monitoring baby's growth and would tell you if they had concerns.

Also, about the test they did on you, it's called a "fetal fibronectin", and it tests for enzymes that MAY indicate that you are more likely to go into labor within the next two weeks. It is not foolproof, and if it comes back positive, it doesn't mean you absolutely will have problems with preterm labor or deliver your baby early. It just means you might be at risk. So don't stress out if it comes back positive.

Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about 2 pounds loss over a week. Weight fluctuates up and down about 3 pounds either direction each day depending on when you eat, how much you've slept, when you go to the bathroom...What you're wearing when you've weighed yourself, etc. Just try to remain calm and know that even if you go into labor in the next few weeks, you've made it this far and it's not nearly as much of a risk for your baby's health anymore. When I was 28 weeks pregnant, I was told I could go into labor at any time with my son. I was even given steroid shots to help his lungs develop faster in case of an early delivery. He was only 2 1/2 weeks early! It's hard to tell, but babies come in their own time. Just try to take it easy. Best of luck!

The cramps could have been from something you ate and it didn't agree with you, possible that it could be early labor or just Braxton Hicks. Did they weigh you on the same scale? They should weigh you on the same scale every appointment to make sure it is accurate. Don't worry too much. I ended up having my son at 29 weeks and today he is a healthy, extremely active 3 year-old with no delays.

Did they do a fetal stress test? Chances are if they did and they sent you home, you are fine.

BAby slows down in growth right around now and you will gain weight slower. Dont worry unless doctor says to.
