Where is this supposed evidence that Africans have a lower IQ than Europeans?

Where is this supposed evidence that Africans have a lower IQ than Europeans? I have noticed that the sick racists like to quote this one a lot, but where is this evidence, where is this science? Where do other races fit in this supposed framework of intellectual capability? I present my facts, I challenge you to backup your own.......

i believe i know the series of articles you refer to. some years back there was a series of pieces in time magazine in which it was stated that (unsurprisingly) americans were the most intelligent people on earth.

it was based on a series of tests conducted by a study group backed by no other than the bildeberger group.

funnily enough, the tests were extremely biased. they would ask "general knowledge" questions which completely biased. (as if a child in mali has any idea who babe ruth was).

the tests were so slanted, that it came out that the average american had a 135 IQ, and that the average african (including south africans) had an average IQ of 68.

the entire series of articles was later exposed as a terrible lie, but strangely enough only got a three line mention and retraction on the second last page of the time magazine, right underneath a sanitary towel advert.

now in reality, recent surveys by mensa (i'm a member) worldwide came up with some very interesting results.

americas average IQ has dropped 17 points the last decade and a half, to a believable 58.

the swiss seem to be pretty quick with an average of 89, with the uk close on americas tail with 62.

japan is 94, china 92, and mexico 68.

south africa comes in at a decent 82, even with our declining education system.

strangely enough, these tests were designed to be racially and socially unbiased.

here are some international general knowledge questions that the yanks failed miserably -

1. What is the national religion of israel? (87% answered muslim)

2. what is the currency of the united kingdom? (73% marked "us dollar")

3. name a country that begins with the letter U? (96% of the americans left the answer blank - missing out the united states of america)

4. who is tony blair? (2% got it right, the rest said he was an actor or singer)

5. where did kentucky fried chicken originate? (out of 7691 answers, 83 got it right...)

so whose intelligent now?

There is a team in America studying the human genome that recently suggested this. They didn't say it was a fact but have suggested that genetically the various races have different intellectual capacities.

They are calling for more research to be done to establish if it is fact, I suspect they would like a research grant so that they can continue their research rather than another group study it.

I might be naive here but my understanding was that the team weren't implying any racist slurs just passing on some limited study results, it was the press that implied that Black Africans appeared to have the lowest intelectual capacity.

I suspect the press picked it up because it's been implied by various anti black activist groups without any evidence for years.
I would suggest that if you're a white racist and have a thing for wearing sheets and burning crosses it is most likely that not only do you have a seriously limited IQ but quite probably a lot of penis envy.

I don't think that's a fair statement that these people are making. There are so many factors that determine a person's IQ. The test that a European and and African are given can't be the same. An African will know things that a European doesn't and a European will know things that an African doesn't because of the things that they experience in life and the quality of education that the person has been exposed to. I am guessing that these tests were probably the same, and geared more towards what a European might know.
The only example that I can think of is trying to give a person from Mexico a U.S. History exam written in English. They are bound to fail because they won't know as much about U.S history and they also don't know the language. This doesn't mean they aren't smart; it just means that they are not as smart in the subject, and rightly so. An American would fail a Mexican history exam written in Spanish.
There would have to be EXTENSIVE reasearch on what is fair and what isn't fair in order for there to be a comparison between the two nationalities as far as IQ goes.
Even in America, an one person may not do as well on an exam as another because of difference in culture, socioeconomic status, educational background, or opportunity.
Another example: A group of three year olds were given a test. The teacher held up flash cards of fruits. When a kiwi was held up, they said it was a lemon. This wasn't because they were dumb and didn't know what a kiwi was, it was because simply hadn't been exposed to a kiwi for whatever reason, and connected it to some other schema they had for fruit. It is not the child's fault.
I believe that if Europeans and Africans were tested fairly, there would be no difference in IQ.

So an African might know the steps to take to make a bowl out of wood and a European might know the pothagorean theroem...we are all smart, only in different ways. This goes for everyone! :)

MJ,don't worry yourself too much,you will end up being depressed and feel inferior.Be proud of yourself.The fact that you write,read and speak English means a lot,most of these so called intelligent whites can't even speak your language.Those people who think Africans have low IQs than whites,it's bad for them,they are imbeciles.
Africans have their own way of living.In fact it was the same white people who invaded Africa and cause havoc.Africans are trying to sort out this havoc but the same white people are interfering-supplying weapons,etc.Look,they caught Margaret Thatcher's son with his gangsters.
Those people have no evidence to support their case,they just take things for granted.
African people have culture,have strong family relations and support each other.For your information MJ,most of these Europeans dump their elders to nursing homes,they can't cope.Is that clever enough.
There are many more examples I can give you.
There are many ways of measuring IQs,unless a person has a secrete agenda and want to ill inform the society.

There is no such evidence. Studies have shown conclusively that African IQ's are on par with Europeans. Most racists like to quote that the IQ's are lower, mainly because Africans were more primitive than Europeans.

Europeans developed more than Africans in the areas of weapons, tools, and societies. Historically this is true, and the simplest explanation being that necessity drove those developments. Most primitive societies only developed to the point that met their needs to survive and thrive.

Europeans, on the other hand, populated areas that did not fully meet the needs of the people, and therefore had to create the means to met those needs. Hence, they tend to believe that they are inherently more intelligent than Africans.

Even if intelligence was a factor, looking at the development of the world as a whole, it would seem that Africans would be better equipped to handle world climate change and other natural disasters.

One answerer ask why Africa is so f'd up... and it would seem a valid point except that the famine was the fault of European influence. Governments were created by Europeans... If left to themselves the Africans would be much better off than the rest of the world...which in my mind would make me think that they are actually smarter than Europeans.

It's not a question of who has the higher IQ Europeans or Blacks. Their contrabution to the world in science,technology,medicine is zero. It's just a sad fact that the Africans cannot get their act together not yesterday nor tomorrow . In Africa to day there is Social Disintergration, Chaos ,wars,corruption at it's best ,dictators, Need I say more. Until they get off their butts and start helping themselves they will suffer social disorder. So what is the answer......" EDUCATION"

I am with you on this one. I doubt that Africans has a lower IQ just because they are African. We must also look at the opportunities between 3rd and 1st world countries. Where does Americans & the British walk by foot to schools for kilo's? Look at infrastructures between Africa and 1st world countiries. All these things plays a part and one have to accept that IQ levels can be lower but for very valid reasons.

Not sure any evidence exists. This has been in the news a lot recently because Nobel prize winner James Watson (the co-discoverer of DNA) claimed Africans were less intelligent. But let's not forget that he is nearly 80, and you don't expect old people to not be racist, do you? Just remember that most people don't think like this about Africans or other races, some people just believe what they want to believe.

Well, I am a member of MENSA which means my IQ is in the top 2 % of South Africa. So I guess Im within the top 10% of the world. Even when I do IQ tests online I get ridiculously high scores..

So I dunno what they are on about?
