When my parents died 2 months apart.1 going was hard but nothing like when the other died. It was too soon. The loss was too much when the first was still sore and raw. my aunt was the last of a big familyand she would look at me or my younger brother and fall apart. I was the one that she wanted to talk with, and it was helpful to me when we just taked softly. I learned more about my parents in an hour ,than in my whole life with them. My aunt died 6 months later and i sat with my cousin, her only child and we sat quietly and we talked of the times all the cousins invaded, gramma's house every memorial day till the age i was drinking with father and my uncles. That is what life is about, brutally painfull, and quiet and calm. tears and smiles, and remembering.

Each morning, when everyone else is still asleep, I sit by the window with my coffee and watch the deer with their little fawns cross my yard and into the woods behind the house. It's the best part of my day. I think about all the people I love and who love me and I count myself truly blessed.

I take time every day to enjoy the simple things around me. Basking in solitude, one learns to be observant, dreaming in thought, being still in the chaos-undisturbed.

If you do mean "solace" and not "solitutude" then I would say a couple of weeks ago ... and I'm sorely in need of it again on a daily basis.
