I filed in the fall of 2004 and finalized in Spring of 2007. The system is truly broken down

Noooo. Of course if she doesn't want the divorce, she will do whatever she can to make your life hell and drag it out. My ex and I used the same lawyer and were in agreement, so it took us 9 months!

Make sure you have a good lawyer and they are doing everything they can to speed it up. I know the lawyers cost alot, but in the long run, you will be glad you paid to have someone protect your best interests...especially if you have kids involved.

Hope this helps...

No, fortunately mine ended quickly compared to what others here are saying. In my state, we had to be separated one year before even filing for divorce. So, mine was granted about a year and 1/2 after I left him.

Something is wrong I think the longest I have know only lasted 2 years and that was because they could not decide on if they were going to sell the house or if they were going to keep it. I think you should find out what is going on.

Four years is extreme. If you don't have a lawyer get one. If you have one ask him or her what can be done to speed it up. In Mo. where I practice all divorces must be concluded within one year of filing.

Hehe.... It took me nearly TEN years to get things settled. I finally had to go to court and request an "uncontested bifurcation" (legal division and/or settlement). My ex husband REFUSED to sign the papers and after 10 years I was ready to get remarried.

The kick in the pants was, he'd gotten remarried about 2 years prior...WITHOUT the bifurcation.

Check with an attorney about having the judge sign the forms for her...I hate it when people drag things out.
