To David S: who ever said gay marriage and abortion is making peace? And who doesn't want peace?

To MR. Modern: Revelation chapter 22 verse 15: "Outside are the dogs who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."

And to everyone else answering this question: who said i was judging anyone? I just asked a question. And by the way, watching the innocent Iraq citizens get punished for being christians is like watching a mother or father beat a child.

Actually, if you've read the bible, it's not that hard. Abortion isn't even mentioned. While there are some strong words about gay sex, it's not that big a deal in the bible. People have strongly overemphasized God's distaste for homosexuality, at the expense of the things that Jesus actually said. Notably, when pressed for an answer as to which of the laws in the bible was most important, Jesus replied with two. He said first, "Love your God with all your heart", and second "Love thy neighbor as theyself." If you have to choose between one of those two, and one of the other commandments, then Jesus directly stated to err on the side of love.
No where am I commanded to judge other people for their sins, nor asked to prevent them from sinning. Do you honestly believe there's a gay dude in the country who doesn't already know the church's stance on it? No, of course not- so if they've made peace with their sin, then it's really between them and God. At that point, it's none of my business, and I've got other mistakes of my own to answer for.
Then there's absolute divorce from conservatism that the GOP has gone through over the last decade. They've taken the stance that Americans are less important than the companies they work for. Republican Leaders are more akin to the pharisees of Jesus's day, in that they won't hesitate to invoke his name- even while they commit the acts they decry. Then there's the horrible fiscal policy, the graft and corruption, and complete lack of any foreign policy.
The Democratic Party isn't perfect, but I've chosen them for now because they're actually more conservative than the Republicans. They've shown me better economics, diplomacy, and statesmanship over the last twenty years than the Republicans, and I believe their priorities are closer to the right place.
I also strongly recommend that any Christian who hasn't yet taken the time to read the entire bible through, cover to cover, make a concerted effort to do so. Charlatans like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson wouldn't gain nearly so much traction in the Church if Christians were better grounded in scripture.

These are only a couple of social issues that the party stands on. Those are only a couple pieces of the puzzle. You can be against a party's stance on an issue or two, but prefer the stances on others. At the end of the day you go with the party that best speaks for you on the majority of the issues.
I am not a christian so I could not speak to the religious grey area of interpretation on these issues that I assume exists, but I know Christians who, for instance, would not have abortions themselves, but don't feel that it is their place to decide for everyone else.

Once saved, always saved.
Being Christian is like being an American. Some Americans are good citizens and some are serial killers; both are equally American.
Once you accept Jesus as your personal savior then you are a Christian, no matter what you do. Some Christians are good citizens of the Kingdom of God, some are not good citizens. Being a bad citizen can cause others to doubt your salvation, however since that decision is between you and God, no man will ever truly know.

Most democrats believe in it? I know I do. I don't practice it. But I know it is real, so therefore I believe in it.
You do only what is in the bible? You will not get a transfusion? You will not pierce your body, you will not tattoo? You will kill your child if they talk back to you? You will sell your daughter into slavery if she dates a man from another race. You will give your only coat to a homeless man?
Better come up with better arguments then you have. Because all of the above are in the Bible.too.

Because they believe in this:
Matthew 25:
31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

wow, this is funny to see how the libs turn to the "back at ya" dialogue........but truthfully, both Libs and Conservatives are getting punked by their double standard and quick wits to hurry and justify what their belief system is-with a question but not an answer. All I see for the most part are irritated hypocrits slinging mud instead of trying to figure out where their belief and values are, and changing them if they dont approve....Otherwise it does appear to be like the libs saying they are robbing the rich and giving it to the poor---just dont let my riches be affected. and if that is false, then how is it that there are well to do liberals? Sheer justification and double standard I tell you.
Why not call it what it is, instead of candy coating it?

so your definition of christianity as per the teaching of Christ is being anti gay, anti abortion? What bible did you read that in?
I have read the bible, especially the parts where Jesus himself spoke as to what he wanted us to be like, and after reading the teachings of Jesus, in his own words, do you know what I wonder? I wonder how someone can call themselves a christian and yet be a hateful, divisive, prejudiced, greedy, gay bashing, poor people hating republican.

First, you don't have to be a perfect person to be a Christian, just saved. Which I guess is fortunate for the Republicans who believe in the death penalty, attacking countries who have done nothing to us, and '"helping the poor" by removing all support and making them "responsible for their own problems," not giving them a hand up.

Please define both.
Show me where in the Bible that homosexual marriage is contrary to God's wishes. We heterosexuals do such a FINE JOB with marriage.
Let's also remember that abortion is just too hot a potato for anyone to handle but if it were that men got pregnant, it would be a sacrament!
What are the other beliefs?
