Do people still apprciate "GOOD MUSIC"?

In that kind of pop market, you are as forgettable as the songs you put out.

It sucks to say this, but if you have a criminal record or you have a steamy sexual past, the pop charts blossom for you. The music in today's pop is so cookie-cutter it's almost not the point.

I much prefer songwriters whose art is more personal, regardless of sales.

I think they have a hard time because of marketing. Monica's last album, for example, received minimal push and the lead single was blah. A better fronting single and more promotion are key to a good comeback.

Along with your everyday catchiness, you have to bring the uniqueness that'll make sure people would remember you. I thought that Sean Kingston would be one of those people, but he has three successful singles, and probably will still be known if he releases a second album.

The singers you mention all have the same sort of style and genre that people won't remember. Sophomore slumps are what those kinds of singers are called if their second albums aren't that great.
