Any ideas on how he is great? or how nick makes him great? i have a few ideas, im just not sure. please can you help?

Gatsby is is a representation of the American Dream. He worked himself up from the middle class and became rich. He did it all for his love, Daisy, but in the end, he failed.

It wasn't that he was "great", it was just the way Nick saw him. He lived in this beautiful house, was surrounded by a bunch of people all the time and had a ton of money. That was what Nick saw in the beginning. But when he got to know Gatsby he realized that it wasn't his wealth or popularity that made him great, it was his personality and the way he presented himself.

Gatsby is great because he represents the American Dream. Although he is sometimes portrayed as base, the fact that he worked hard to achieve his nouveau riche status FOR DAISY says a lot about him and his character.
He works hard and always strives after the "green light"

absolutely nothing. I really hate this book and Gatsby.
But probably part of it is that he's so ... "cool". As Daisy, says, right? "You're always so cool". He's got an air about him, almost like a James Dean. He doesn't seem to care about what anyone thinks of him, he's got confidence, he's got class and money.
I guess you could argue that the title is meant to be ironic or sarcastic because I don't really see anything Great about Gatsby, scum bag.
