I believe in personal freedoms from the government
drugs
not wearing helmets or seatbelts
prostitution
gay marriage
polygamy
I think people should be able to hurt themselves to learn from it.

I think the richest of our culture should help the poorest as an obligation and as payment for the freedom to make money in our free society.

I think corporations should be policed so that they do not abuse the people.

I also think that most people are very confused by the media and their own judgments are used to rally them for unjust causes...

if i am wrong please explain why

The word liberal used to mean something completely different that what it means today! By todays standards you are very "liberal." The word liberal used to mean free in social and economical liberties. Where you agree with many libertarians is the realm of personal liberties and self-government. I too agree that the media has a bias. While some think it is the rich controls, many believe that it is simply years of government use on the economy resulting in a mixture of government and business. At the economy's heart is a clear definitive line of property rights. You also have property rights to your body that few people in this world get. As government steps in more and more competition is limited by firms being pushed out by bigger government bailed out companies. Because of people allowing government to "try" to fix the poverty level we have really just allowed government to take away the civil liberties that have created the vast amounts of wealth. There is a very, very, very fine line between personal freedoms and economic personal freedoms. Do you know why we have ghettos? Is it because of the big old bad producers not paying enough? Is it because the evil producers(who are only allowed extra profits by government interaction) charge us such a high rate.(Even though the government gets 60% of every dollar received by a person this year and there are still homeless people.) The same reason we have IGA's, Food Lion's, HEB's, and Krogers! The government sucks at producing things. It then shows its true colors. The government is really just a slavery service that the people cannot control. It continues to get bigger and bigger and a deviation away from the marketplace occurs. This lowering of competition and government increasing taxes(therefore reducing the amount of capital to supply businesses ~on top of every other kind of tax that the industries have to pass on to the consumers). Who is going to police the police? You? The people? The liberal police is no better than the warmonger police that don't understand personal freedoms. The nice thing is the people vote every day with their dollar for the company they want to keep and for the companies they don't. Governments are the only true monopoly. The bigger your "caring" government gets the worse things will get for all. The wage market should be 3 times stronger today but because of taxes, unneeded regulations, politician salaries, high levels of internal corruption and the neverending need from the liberals for a "leader" individuality and personal freedoms will always be threatened. In short, you think there is a difference between economic freedoms and personal freedoms when in the real world the two are inseperable! These dream lands of republican "everyone praise God" and/or democratic liberal equalitists are impossible and cause more harm than freedom or liberty ever could. The mixture of both restrictions have caused things to get as bad as they have today. Without competitive markets, freedom, personal liberty, and economic freedom, civilizations crumble! Please don't vote for a republican or democrat at least this year. They are all cults.

Typical ignorant Americans! Only in America, where Hitler can be a Liberal, Republican, Conservative. If you bothered to read Mein Kampf, you would realise that hitler hated Liberalism. Liberalisim has been distorted by Socialist Progressives and Social Democrats in this modern day. But who's a real Liberal??? George Washington!!! Liberal Republican! “As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.” George Washington

In some aspects you're a libertarian. However, the whole forcing rich to pay for the poor and regulating industry classifies you as a liberal. But you're not that much of a liberal. I'm a libertarian and I hate mandatory laws on helmets, seatbelts. I'm for legalized gay marriage and prostitution.

Youre not a liberal.

Youre in between just like most of the rest of us.

Individual freedom is a conservative value, theyve just turned away from it recently. That was part of the states rights thing-more personal involvement in gov't vs. an impersonal nationalized gov't. All of your 'liberal' social ideas are really conservative ideas that are neglected by the neo-cons who dont support true conservatives, but instead use religious intolerance to fuel their social agenda.

Economically youre definitely liberal. You seem to favor a strong gov't hand in business which puts you on the path to gov't controlled business.

Isn't it cool that we can think the way that we want in this country without fear of reprisal (yet)?

Hmmmm I can see why I have you in my network, but I have to disagree with you on the helmet and seatbelt thing, only from what I've seen in the ER and working as an EMT. you might change your mind if you've seen what I've seen.

Good question...you're as liberal as I am

You are definitely liberal, but I notice the only intelligent comments came from the people that support you.
Free speech seems to include telling you to leave the country because you are saying things that they don't agree with. Sort of Ironic isn't it?

I didn't realize Polygamy was a liberal view point. I thought that view was mostly held by ultra conservative Mormans and Muslims.

You are 100% correct.

People should be free to do what they want to do unless it directly interferes with the rights of others. Gay marriage, the right for some terminally ill patient to die, stem cell research, etc, etc, does not affect my rights.
