First off who has PROVEN he lied so far? He is accused of it yes, but all you people are saying he did. Where is YOUR PROOF. He said he never KNOWINGLY took PEDs so don't say he took drugs that he never tested positive for. Even if he is proven to have used anything that wouldn't prove the Govt's case. The fact is they are after him because he broke the HR record. Don't believe me? Tell me how often the Govt would go after someone for saying they never KNOWINGLY took the something. Had he denied taking it altogether you might argue that it isn't selective. The fact that it took until like the last day of the LAST Grand Jury that could be seated shows me that this is going after him.

Nothing "selective" about it. People who commit perjury in Federal cases are usually prosecuted for it.

Remember when Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice?

Geraldo Rivera went on his show and said that it was selective prosecution, and that he would give $10,000 to anyone who could show a case where someone was prosecuted for perjury after lying about sex in a civil lawsuit. He was flooded with HUNDREDS of examples.

The courts take perjury VERY seriously - our whole legal system is predicated on the basis that people will tell the truth under oath.

They aren't. He was called to witness in the case against balco. The feds told him that if he was honest about his happenings that they wouldn't charge him with anything.. Bonds decided to give the feds the middle finger and lie in court which is a federal offence. Thus he broke the law.. thus he is being prosecuted.

The claim is he lied to a grand jury. Anyone who lies under oath gets prosecuted...see Bill Clinton.

sgoldperson is right - that is why he is now indicted (=charged) and there will be a trial to determine his actual guilt. that is how the system works, and has for the last 218 years or so

He's an A**-HOLE, thats why !!! So many years ago, when the players all went out on strike, that worthless SOB had the balls to go to court to get his child support payments put off "because he was'nt working". Hardly, Dad-of-the-Year material, would'nt you think ? He's a pompous jack-a**, and deserves to be thrown under the jail. As much as I hate SF, even they don't deserve that creep, and they're probably glad to get rid of him.

You are begging the question. He lied under oath. It hindered a federal investigation. Happens to tons of people. The end.

They selected him because he was the one who lied to a Grand Jury.

That would be my guess.
